I still need clarification:
#1-if the lift is above the upper shock mount
#2-if the lift is below the shock mount
#3-if the lift is split with about half above the shock mount and about half below the shock mount?

Why would you want or not want one of the methods above? What drawbacks are particular to #1 and #2 and #3?

Can someone concisely explain the differences?

To level (raise) the front end of our F150s, the units are mounted onto, above or below, or both, to the upper shock/strut mount.

naw...the spacer is bolted to the top of the strut tower on top of the coil spring which the strut resides...then it is re-inserted into the upper and lower strut mounts..

I stand corrected. But my question still stands. I see the spacers above, below, or in both positions. Still wanna know the differences of where it's located or where can I find that info. I need to know in order to decide which of the 3 possible ways will work best for me.

never seen a bottom spacer... ( post a pic of what your talking about ) all the ones you can buy are top mount...or you can buy leveling struts..5100's or rancho quick lift coilovers. those are your 3 choices to level the front with the rear. or install a lift kit...

Thanks.

One you install on top of the upper "thingy-doo" and don't need to use a spring compressor. The other installs on the upper "thingy-doo" but on the underside of it, and you need a spring compressor.

And Skyjacker has a kit that splits the spacers into 2, one above and one below.

Dies that make sense?

Can post pics tonight.

you do not need a spring compressor unless your removing the strut from the coil...the only reason i would do that is to install 5100 leveling struts...never seen the Shy Jacker split spacer...i have a Sky Jacker spacer on mine...the easy way..what are you looking for ?? just to level your truck to drive to the mall ??

Considering leveling truck 2". It's a 2 WD. Skyjacker had a kit that splits the 2" with a ring above and a ring below the upper "thingy" Sort of making s sandwich. Need a spring compressor. It's on their website. I know other types of kits bolt only on the top and don't need compressor. I want to know the difference on what each system of leveling affects.

I've been trying to explain and get answers to this question since I'm not familiar with suspension systems. I'll try one more time.

See the illustration of the SkyJacker 2" kit, which has 2 spacers per side (not 1). This spreads the 'lifting' some above and some below the upper shock mount. Other kits I've seen have a 2" spacer above (only) or 2" below (only) the upper shock mount. When placed above, there is no need for a spring compressor, when placed below, obviously the spring needs to be compressed.

1) What total effects does the upper spacer ring have on the shock travel, bottoming out, stiffness, ride, etc?
2) What total effects does the lower spacer ring have on the shock travel, bottoming out, stiffness, ride, etc?
