I've read the Lomax cover won't allow the remote tailgate to release without opening the cover. Is this true?

Regardless of what you buy, make sure it's at a dealer that will guarantee and stand behind the product. I had nothing but trouble with a Bakflip, never ending bad water leaks. To say it nicely the manufacturer was not very helpful. But the dealer tried 3 different covers which all leaked as bad as the one before. In the end I got all my $$$ back and got a trifold soft for a fraction of the cost, and doesn't leak one bit.
I see some of you have had good luck so obviously it's a crap shoot if you get a good one or a bad one.

i just had the exact opposite experience. the prop rods on my mx4 (bought from autoanything) were not lining up with the receivers on the cover (the rods were too long it appeared). called bak, explained it, they asked for photos and i sent them. they sent me an entire new cover, rails and all, no questions asked and included a return shipping label for the first one. they said they were not sure if the mounting points on the rails or the receivers on the cover were installed incorrectly and instead of just trying one they sent everything.

It appears that the cover cannot be folded all the way up (parallel to the rear window) to allow full bed access. Is that correct?

MH150,

You are correct, as of right now the LOMAX® Hard Tri-Fold Cover does not fold parallel to the rear widow, however it is extremely easy to remove and reinstall when you need full bed usage. Please watch this video for a demonstration:

Thanks for the quick confirmation. This is something to consider. I have a new 2017 and am looking at options I've had good luck with another brand in the past, but want to consider all options.

I liked the Roll X aluminum backed tonneau cover I had on my GMC. Went with the Ford version with my new 2016. Always liked that a guy with a knife couldn't just punch it and gain access. If they have a crow bar and want to spend the time, they are in, but a lot more noise and effort.
