My truck already has a back-up camera but I want one on the front to help with parking so next week I'm going to mount a small camera up front, maybe right under the Ford emblem and then put a 4" monitor in the flip down sunglass holder that I will never use. When I want to use it I will just drop the sunglass holder and see the monitor and flip it shut when not in use. May not be for everyone but it will work for us.
Thats a good location. I think it will work out perfectly!

I've heard some people drill a hole in the middle of their license plate and put a small camera there.

I am so glad that my 2016 Lariat had that installed from the factory because I park in my garage every night and I have about 6 inches of extra room, so the front camera makes it where I can pull right up to the wall in the garage.

It's been a nice feature for tight spots and making sure my *** isn't hanging out. The front was a lot easier to install than the back. Not the best video quality, but not bad for $30.

Great write-up!
Did you have to add any diodes to keep the backup lights from coming on when you switch on the front camera? It seems that if you do not add diodes the front camera switching on will illuminate the backup lights.
Do you have a separate switch for the rear camera when not in reverse just to see what is going on when not in reverse? I read that this will illuminate the backup lights also.
Thanks for the info.

I did not have to add any diodes because I did not tap power from the reverse lights, on either camera. I installed the extra fuse box, directly from the battery, behind the glove box. I then took power from the added fuse box, to the switch and from the switch to the camera. I can turn either camera on at any point and don't need to be in reverse or drive.

Hello all. I have a camera question. I have the stock rear view camera in my tailgate that displays in the stock rear view mirror. I would like to install a front facing camera that also displays in the stock rear view mirror. I bought this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intelligent-...-/351765818082 to handle the switching. I spliced the switcher into the video feed for the mirror and the reverse camera works as it should. When I shift into reverse the camera comes on. However when I trigger the front camera I can't get get the mirror to come on. I know the camera is working because I hooked up to another monitor and the front camera works. Anybody have any ideas? Not trying to highjack your thread FerdinandF150, but you seem to have a pretty good handle on this. I figured this would be the place to ask. Thanks guys.

No worries, it's got to be a mix up of wires I would think. Have you read reviews of that product on Amazon? Some folks explain how they hooked it up and offer pictures of where each wire goes.

Where are you drawing power from for the front camera? What's the trigger?
