Default Extang Solid Fold w/OEM Bed Extender Concern

Wondering if I can get some input from users of SolidFold Tonneau w/Ford Bed Extender. Taking delivery of 2013 shortbed F150 in a couple of weeks, pretty much sold on SolidFold but don't know anyone locally that has bed extender with SolidFold.

I don't want to buy if opening/closing spring loaded clamps are in any way obstructed by BedExtender in any position (folded to the side or gate closed when tailgate is closed) Photos welcomed as support.

Thanks so much.....jlbeau

Why solid fold? I just picked up a 13 FX4 with solid fold and regret it. With my bakflip I could open on any side. With the solid fold I have to walk to both sides.
My two cents...

Big deal. Open the tailgate and unlatch two spring loaded clasps. In addition I prefer the look of the Solid Fold and 1 minute install. Both have positives and negatives. I would lean more BakFlip if it was PITA to unhook clasps due to Bed Extender for Solid Fold.

I have the solid fold on my shortbed and it's awesome. The solid fold's install was a non-event. Takes all of 30 seconds. Having seen the bed extender, I don't think the clips will in any way be impeded.

The solid fold does look very easy! How convenient is it to deal with if say your at home Depot and in a spontaneous moment decide to purchase something that requires the cover be open for whole bed access? It seems the only choice is to completely remove the cover to gain access to the whole bed for the drive home.

Yes, if you require the entire bed, you will need to remove and store the cover either in the bed or in the backseat. Having said that, you will need to do that with most any type of hard cover to gain the entire bed, and nothing removes and stores as quickly as the solid-fold. To remove it requires unlatching two latches and two hand-twisted plastic wingnuts. -No tools needed and it takes all of a minute. You need to carefully analyze how often the inconvenience of performing that procecure will come into play for you. Then decide if you want a cover and which cover is right for you. Every cover has design advantages and drawbacks.

Any leaks? also do you find it hard to open the tailgate? with the Bakflip, opening the gate seemed easier - then again it didn't seal as well as the Solid fold does.

Thanks

I have the solid fold cover. Do I like it? Yes. Do I love it? No!

Pros:

Price. Half the cost of a solid one piece glass cover.

Install ease. It don't get any easier than this.

Removal ease. Not that you would need to very often. Easily transported in bed, or back seat.

Versatility. Nice to be able to use two-thirds of your bed space by just folding back two sections.

Looks? Matter of personal taste. I'll put this down as a neutral.

Cons:

Not watertight. But close enough for my needs. After all, this is a truck!

Tailgate can be difficult to open at times, especially in below freezing temps. I found it helps a lot if you keep the rear seal, and the top of the gate "lubricated" with something. Tire shine, armor all (yuk!) or, my favorite - Collinite 845.

Dents easily. I have several **** bark hickory trees on my property that constantly rain down acorn sized nuts onto my truck. The truck is fine, but the cover is covered with dents. Not real noticeable, but definitely there.

Would I buy again? Probably not. Going to keep this one till it falls apart, and keep saving my pennies for a Leer, or ARE solid glass cover.

Should you buy? Depends what you use your truck for. Do you need a truck bed? Or a huge trunk!
