It was an easy install. I did it in my driveway. I had to cut the stock exhaust to remove it. I hung the whole system first then I tightened it up. I tightened the forward section first then worked my way back to the tips. also note that the exhaust will move when it is hot about 1/2 inch (and back cold) this is normal. I had to adjust the heat shield around my spare just a little with a pry bar.

Mine has gotten to where you can hear it at cruising speed, 70-75 mph. Just a low rumble, lets you know it's there, but not offensive at all. Still, zero drone.
I've got around 15k miles on it right now, and couldn't be happier with it.
Hey, I'm 66 years old, if that tells you anything about how I feel about noise! LOL

HMM! LOL I'm 63 and I seem to always change the exhaust first. Its the quickest mod for me.

Oh ya! Pretty much the same here. I couldn't stand not hearing the exhaust when I first got mine. An engine like that needs to be heard, yes, even at an idle. But admittedly, I tried a lesser system, and modified it as well. Never could get the drone out of it, or the sound I wanted.
I am still willing to try to get a midpipe from Borla, and replace the resonator with it. The newer SType uses the ATAK muffler with a resonator. Just for grins and giggles I guess, but then again, I might like it.

Over the years I have tried various different exhaust systems this is my first 5.0
On my 5.4 I tried Magnaflow and the drone was bad. It was on for only a week. I ended up with a stainless steel bullet system which I loved.
Now that I have a 5.0 I wanted a sound something like I have heard on some mustangs. I loved the sound. With the Borla system I have exactly what I wanted. For me it was worth the extra money. I am saving for a Roush blower. I know that the intakes change the sound of the exhaust a little. So I expect a different sound with the blower.

That's the sound I was going for as well, then realized that I'd never quite get it, without changing cams, intake, etc.. This is the closest I can get.
BTW, ever hear one of the new Coyote Mustangs with a Borla? Wow, they sound fantastic!!!
That blower would be tons of fun, and the sound from both ends is/would be a real headturner! I've been around a few RS3's, and they just give me the chills. Man, a 150 that sounds like that? I'd never have time to go to work.

Just picked an 2015 XLT 3.5 V6. I'm looking to update my exhaust with an aftermarket. I'm trying to get the loudest out of my v6. Any suggestions? Also do any of you have much success with removing the resonator?
I was considering dropping the muffler and going straight pipe and see how that goes. I was also looking to change out the muffler with either a Flowmaster Super 10 or 40 Series.

OK update on my truck ☺ I installed the Solo Performance
MACH-X system and man what a sound! But it comes with a price, it drones pretty good, but that drone is also the AFE cold air intake. But it's very nice! Throttle response and low end torque is amazing! BTW anyone looking for a stock exhaust lol

Hi everyone, just thought I'd post this here as I didn't want to clutter the main board. Was considering some Magnaflow side exit (before the rear tire) exhaust. I have powered running boards on my lariat and was curious if this setup would cause difficulty with these powered boards. Anyone have any experience?

So here's my dilemma.

I am having trouble deciding between black or “chrome” tips.

I am firmly decided on the MBRP dual side exit Pre-axle, S5260. I am just unsure on which material to get. I am torn between 409 stainless or Black anodized. I haven’t decided which finish I’d prefer.

I am in Arkansas, nowhere near the rust belt.

So the question…

Is it feasible to go ahead with the 409 stainless and if I decide to try black tips then purchase them separately? Or can I get the stainless tips powder coated black? I’ve heard PCing stainless is kinda iffy. Note: the black system is more expensive than the 409SS.

TIA
