hey all,
just wondering if this might be a cool idea,

first trim and install this 3 inch y pipe from the cats back(i would need 2 (2.5-3inch) connectors welded to each cat), heres the link for the y pipe
129.00

Secondly i would run 3inch intermediate piping from the new y all the way to the tail-pipe. heres the link to intermediate piping.
16.94 for 4 feet

then i would run a tail-pipe heres the link to it...
93.95

total for a full 3inch exhaust: 280$

any feedback on this idea? I havent seen anyone do this.

I put on 2.5 in piping with true duel flowmaster 40 series on my 2007 F150 Crew cab. Sounds great. no dyno numbers but I can feel the difference in horsepower. I have noticed the difference between my 2006 and 2007 F150 is that with the true duel and a fake duel is that I have lost some low end torque/power with the true duel vice the fake duel, where as the true duel I can feel more horses in the higher gears where as the fake duel I saw more power low end. It depends on what you use your truck more for.

Default Magnaflow or Bullet System

My Experience!

I had a bullet 16" muffler ...3" cat back system on my truck since the first week I bought my truck new.

Just a few months ago I had JBA headers put on my truck. I thought that I would go to the side out system exhaust. So the shop put in a magna flow 2-1/2" system single in and two pies out- side exit in front of the rear tire

After I had the Magna flow Exhaust system installed... When I left the shop, what I head was bad! A terrible resonance above 3500 rpm. so after living with this for a few months I noticed that the baffle inside was rattling. So I warrantee the exhaust!
The shop was worried I wouldn't be happy so they install a different Magna flow system.

3" cat back system exiting at the rear of the right rear tire. this one sounded different but didn't fit right because I have the Hellwig sway bar in the way so they left the tail pipe off and dumped the pipe down behind the rear axle. This sounded better ( a little quite) so I went home thinking this was good. When I got home I noticed this smell of rubber burning. My sway bar link bushing was dripping.... melted.

that's It! I went back to the muffler shop where I originally had my Bullet system installed. I had all the day old Magna flow system removed. Then I had the 3" Bullet cat system installed and now my truck sounds deeper, throatier and louder but not too loud. just enough to set off alarms ...If I try. :-)

anyone want to buy a day old 3" magna flow cat back system?

I wasted my money! No big deal... live and learn. I should have stayed with the exhaust system I had used for 20 years on various trucks.

Hey! I reserched and investigated this one and I was still unhappy? go figure!

2003 with the 5.4 V8

OEM cats and manifolds - no muffler. I'd classify that as a straight pipe of sorts
