Default Borla Touring Exhaust on 2016 F150 2.7 Ecoboost

I have a 2016 F150 Supercrew Metallic colored 4X4 short bed with the 2.7 L Ecoboost engine. I love the pull of the engine, and the gas mileage, but hate the sound. Inside or outside the truck, it just sounded bad. Weak. Terrible. An embarrassment to Ford. My previous truck was a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8, and i didn't realize how much I liked the entire experience of a V8. So first things first, I knew whatever aftermarket exhaust I put on, it would never sound like a V8. I just wanted something I wasn't embarrassed by. After listening to hours of You Tube video's, I took a chance and bought the Borla Performance Cat-Back Touring exhaust system (p/n 140614) dual exhaust with pipes coming out the rear of the truck. The exhaust was very pricey, but I wanted the 304 stainless steel because I live where they salt the roads. The pipes look great. So much better than the stock pipe. The sound is better, It sounds great on a cold start. Like a power boat. Once it warms up the sound level drops. Cruising around town or the highway there is absolutely no drone. Just like stock. The sound is slightly loader than stock but with a better quality to it. At wide open throttle it sounds good. I have noticed no improvement in gas mileage or felt torque. If I had to do it over again I would buy the S-Type Borla instead of the Touring. The Touring is just too quite, and if you're going to spend the money, you might as well get something for it. The bottom line is that I miss a V8 and and it isn't so much the sound outside the truck of a V8, (I'm in my 50's and I don't need to sound like racer boy going down the road), it's the sound inside the cab that I miss. The sound only a large eight cylinder can make, and that a small six cylinder can never make. No matter what pipes are installed, even high quality pipes like these Borla. Attached are a few pictures.

I have a Roush cat back on my 17 xlt screw and it was a bit to load for me. I just had a Flo-Pro Twister resonator I purchased from 5startuning.com installed and it is much quieter with no ricie sound. I’m very happy with the combination

Default MBRP Black Series - Pre-Axle

Just installed MBRP Black Series Pre-Series Exhaust on my '15 SCrew with the 3.5L Ecoboost and 6.5' bed.

Love the look and the black matches my scheme, but I have a couple complaints. While the sound at start-up and low RPM is amazing, it quickly turns ricer at higher RPM. This is a pretty common issue with exhausts across the board with the ecoboost but it lets a little wind out of the sails. And there is tons of in-cab droning. With the exhaust dumping right behind the cab it is a constant hum at anything above 2k RPM. It's not unbearable for my daily commute, but I could see it being problematic for road trips.

Also, while the pre-axle look is primarily what I bought this for, it is not 100% everything I thought it would be. The provided hanger and rubber grommet that support the pipes right before they exit are not in the most ideal location for the 6.5' bed. MBRP packages the whole exhaust to fit any wheel base with the ony modification required being cutting the straight pipe to length. While their instructions are very good and the measurements are spot as far as getting everything lined up, I dont like the finished look. The short bed has so little room to squeeze in these tips that the argument is invalid, but on my 6.5' bed they dump too far back IMO. There is plenty of room to center the exhaust and give it a clean polished look. However, the hanger bracket and small grommet will not allow enough adjustment to do so.

I plan on fabbing my own bracket to replace the one they supplied and that will allow me enough flexibility to center the tips. Otherwise I think quality is very good. The straight pipe is stainless and the rest has a healthy layer of powder coat, no thin spots or blemishes. Fitment was perfect and everyting lined up exactly as it was designed to. Install was a breeze, though I don't recomment anyone trying it without a lift like I did. It is do-able but it is not enjoyable.

That's a very good review and I found pretty much the same (except for the sound issue as I have a 5.0L)

I also thought the tips might look a little better if centered between the wheel opening and step. I haven't looked into relocating it all forward, but I might try it this summer if I get bored. Along with plastidipping or powdercoating the tips black. I didn't have too much difficulty with installation. I used an air ratchet and impact for most of it. But it did help to have my dad there when getting the OEM muffler out without cutting it. An extra set of hands is nice.

Has anyone gone from a Super 44 to a Super 10?
I have a Super 44 on my rcsb 5.0 that sounds amazing on cold start ups (loud and mean) Unfortunately it quiets down a lot when the truck warms up. To the point that you can barely notice it has an aftermarket muffler at idle.

It has the resonator removed. Will going with a super 10 make it louder to the point that you will definitely notice it at idle? Or will it also quiet down that much due to the nature of the smooth idling 5.0?

I like the way you can hear the Turbos whistle at an idle.... Ya gotta love that sound... Actually the only time you can really hear the Borla "sound"... is when you drop the hammer....LOL... Went to a local Muffler shop, installation of 2 - 2 1/2" tail pipes, 2 - 18" long Chrome 4" tips and a piece from the Y pipe to the muffler $321.00 out the door....
Hey, I’m starting to look at my options for a dual out the rear exhaust on my 13 ecoboost. I’m worried about check engine lights popping up an so on. I was wondering if you had had any problems with yours and what you recommend I do.
