i know this sounds like a childish question but what can i do to add horsepower? 2010 F150 XLT, 5.4L

Intake, tune, exhaust basic three Bolton mods usually done.

Hi & Welcome!

On yer model year truck, the intake and exhaust are already stellar and more than adequate - no gains to be had by changing them, so save yer money.

All the potential gains will come from custom tuning, and will be the best bang-fer-buck mod. Read through this thread - it explains what is possible very well - and is 100% applicable to yer truck:
