Default Edge Evolution Problem - HELP

I'm getting a check engine light - system too lean. I have an Airaid CAI and Volant SS catback exhaust. It happens on all 3 settings so I set it back to stock and it won't go out. Dealer won't reset or reburn factory program until I re-install the factory air box. Edge Products said to advance the timing via the custom program feature, but when I selected timing, it said timing changes weren't available. Any help would be appreciated.

Huh, Your not doing something right. I have my timing advanced in the custom settings. I have no idea what your doing that isn't letting you advance it, read your book or call Edge back. Are you sure your going into the custom settings? It's real easy to adjust what ever you want to change in there. btw, Welcometo the site

Thanks whitecrystal1. I'll go back to the book. Calling Edge requires a great deal of patience. wait, wait, wait. BTW, did you have to advance your timing or did you do it for some other reason?

Depends on the Gas octane and the tune level your using... It says in the manual how to do that somewhere... Good luck and welcome!

I'm using 92 octane and this is hapenning at all tuning levels. Even the shift-pattern-only change which is strange. anyone ever heard of a CAI throwing 'too lean' codes? This is a 2004 with 5.4 engine.

I have never herd of a cia throwing codes, usually the pcm just "learns" about the cold air intake and adjusts the fuel levels from there.

Advanced it because I'm running 93 octane. You can advance your timing 1 point for every 2 points of octane increase. In level three it is set for 91 octane so if you are running 93 you can bump it up +1. If your in level two you can do more. I think it's set for 89 octane (check first to make sure) So if your running 93 in this level you can bump it up +2. It explains this and much more in the manual. Just what ever you do, follow the instructions, there are to many horror story's HELP MY TRUCK WON'T MOVE If you are careless with it or any tuner for that matter you could have a 6000lb paper weight too.
