Default Edge Evolution, Anybody else experience this?

I've had the Edge Evolution in my '08 SCAB for about 5 months now, and it has worked flawlessly in every way... but...

In the last few weeks, it's been getting much colder, and the trucks been turning over alot harder in the morning. When I go to start the truck, instead of the Edge displaying the info (MPH, RPM etc.), the screen flashes, and then it shows the truck's HEX CODE, as if I unplugged it, and plugged it back in. I assume this is because starting the cold truck causes such a draw on the battery, that it can't keep enough power to the EDGE to keep it on.
It only does this after the truck has set still for 10-12 hours or more, and is ice cold. Once it's warmer, it doesn't do this at all.
Any thoughts???

Has this happened to anyone else, and is it normal?
Thanks

only time i've ever seen that happen is when the power from the battery gets low.

Yeah, that sure seems like the problem. I didn't think the battery was that weak, because the truck doesn't start any different than it always did, but I never tested it. I will now.

Also, sometimes when I start the truck, the radio, heater blower, and/or interior lights are on. All that extra stuff probably doesn't help. I'll try to shut all that off first, and see if that solves the issue.

I just hate to think I need a new battery after 2.5 years.

The Edge draws a little current to keep memory alive. Just unplug it when it sits for awhile. If the problem continues then the battery is weak.

I would bet that it has more to do with how cold your battery is getting than how cold the edge is getting. The battery is probably getting so cold that it isnt pushing power to the edge as well as it used to.

I'm probably gonna spring for a new OPTIMA battery soon.

I did try turning off the auto headlights, and shutting the door, (so the interior lights go out) before starting the truck. That seemed to help alleviate the issue. (at least until it gets even colder yet) It sucks that I may need a battery already. The trucks only 2.5 years old. My F-350 diesel's batteries are 7 years old!

Thanks for the replies
