Yes the mod works, yes tripping the latch produces the same result, one voids warranty one does not....choose your poison.
Ok, You've made your presence.Time to move on.

So is this forum now under communist control? Am I not allowed to voice my professional opinion?

I have moved on without your direction thank you very much.

I think he was just saying that everyone knows how you feel about this mod and it doesnt help anyone to keep complaining about it. Threads that are full of back and forth get old.

Its different if you can back up the claim that it will cause damage to the electrical system, or whatever, instead just saying it might cause an issue. If you know of something it would, or potentially could, interfere with i'd like to hear it. (honestly, not being sarcastic).

Thanks Alt for this great mod! Great pics. I know it takes time to do those and annotate them.

I often get in my truck for a halfmile drive and would like to hit a "chime cancel" button for those times. Where the chime would reinstate itself after the next key cycle. Is there some kind of "latching relay" that can be placed on the wire to the speaker?

Slight departure from your project but could solve the key-in-ignition problem too.

Not sure what a "latching relay" is. But I assume you mean it's a switch you use to disable the chime that more or less "re-arms" itself when you shut the truck off?? If so, I'm very interested in doing the same thing.

I disabled my speaker a while back but I've been thinking about soldering wires to the two cut ends and adding an in-line switch to the circuit. That way, at the flip of a switch, I can momentarily reverse the mod so my turn signals won't be silent. This would be especially good for times when I let others drive my truck. It would be even better if that feature was somehow self-resetting.

I tried this today. It does keep the bell from dinging when the door is opened with the key in the ignition and when the door is open with the key in the run position. However, the thing still dings in the accessory position, which is where I would most want it not to. Anyone know how to stop that?

Thank gawd! I'm a bit OCD crazy, sound sensitive and this beeping sound makes me crazy. For me it's not (only) about leaving the door open while I'm out, with stereo on or whatever. Spend a lot of time in my truck. Right now im out in the mtns. Chillen reading , DVD. , whatev. Want to turn key on for seat heat, the ***ing beeping goes.. Why so many times?!? Also since I'm complaining, what's the deal with the AC/heat . When I turn on it's starts off at full bore. Frustrating. First world problems. Thanks for this solution . I'm going to gladly hack the Shiz out of those wires. Hope it doesn't affect the reverse sensors , as I've become dependent on them. And also plan to hook up a reverse cam to stereo. Hope that's not related...
