Default Couple Performance Questions

My truck has never felt fast or even quick really but I have to wonder whether I lost performance when I did my SI/DO Magnaflow exhaust. It feels more sluggish albeit it sounds great. Everything else is stock performance wise.
Is the only way to fix loss of this nature a programmer?
I find it hard to drop 500 bucks on a programmer that will only get me marginal increase in power.
Is the only way to see significant increase to supercharge it?
If you do S/C the motor won't I need a built trans?

The truck just feels slow and i really have to get on it to move. I know if I wanted a sports car I should've bought one but I need a truck. This is one of the reasons I'm considering going diesel. Any input is appreciated. :

Look for a used tuner, should be able to find one in the 200-250 range.

Great will do. Do you consider it worth it?

For $250, it's worth it just for the shift improvements I got from it.

Best way to tell, if you can find a buddy with one that will work with your truck (IIRC my superchips works on 99-2010), and see if he'll let you try his out for a few minutes.

Okay cool, I've been looking way to much at the massive power gains diesel guys are seeing. I'll see if I can find someone with a good tuner.

I would really like a gryphon but don't see that happening. Is a used edge good?

Unless you're getting a dyno tune, I doubt there is a big enough difference between tuners to warrant a large cost difference. I'd get whatever you can find the cheapest.

I got the edge. It was actually new because the guy had one and had a problem with it so Edge sent him a new one, but he decided to sell the truck so he sold the new Edge that they sent to him. Kinda got lucky. But hey, im getting 3-4 mpg better with it so that just one reason its worth it. Plus the performance gains, ability to recalibrate the speedo, and monitor stuff on your engine.

what software do they use for the dyno tune, I've been looking into EFI live for diesel burners. What kind of performance increase would you see?

Wow that's pretty sweet, I hope I can find some sort of deal like that. Is the performance difference pretty hefty or what?
