Default +1 AFE Magnum Force Stage 2 Pro 5R

I purchased and installed the AFE Magnum Force Stage 2 Pro 5R CAI for my 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch 3.5 EcoBoost V6.
I honestly didn't do much research on CAI's prior to purchasing. I did have previous experience with AFE but with my old 03 Ford F350.
I do like the design of the AFE Magnum Force CAI as well as the mandrel bent aluminium tubing. The double filter set up is Definitely aggressive looking.

The kit came with all the necessary hardware, quality hardware and the installation was quite simple. I did break the intake temperature sensor when trying to remove it from the stock intake. There is a tab on this sensor that needs pryed up in order to spin it out. I spun the sensor backwards without lifting up the locking tab and busted the sensor. Obviously this was my fault, a YouTube installation video DID show the correct way within. I did watch a few installation videos prior to installing my own. However, I did not watch all of them, as some DO give better installation instructions.

After installing the AFE Magnum Force CAI I took a short drive to see if the throttle response (turbo lag) was noticeably better. Upon half throttle, I did notice a loud (sucking) noise. If you want a quiet CAI, this IS NOT the one for you. I DO enjoy the sound of this CAI, I DO notice a slightly better throttle response especially in Sport mode.

I would highly recommend this CAI for its aggressive looks under the hood and functionality. However, this CAI is on the higher spectrum of price. I saw many sites wanting around $480, however I was able to purchase this intake for just over $400 from Hebronautoparts.com with free shipping. Its definitely worth doing a little online product shopping and research.

Default How much of a difference

I am reaching if a CAI is worth it. What I have is a 17 Lariat Sport 5.0. The stock CAI is fairly large. Would it be worth the money replacing the entire intake with an after market or would it be the same with replacing with a better air filter? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Default S&B

Again i see these pics of supposed cold air intakes when most of them are open on one end or the other. Thus sucking hot air from the engine bay. You really don't gain that much performance unless you have a larger throttle body etc. Im sure everyone has a 100% stance on which is the best. Again God Bless America, is why we can have these kinda posts.

Is it required to get a tune with a cold air intake? Been looking at this CAI, not sure if getting a tune will void the warranties on my truck.

Not required. Getting a tune COULD void your warranty.

Default S&b cai

Just purchased the S&B Cold AIr Intake kit (dry filter) for my 2014 FX4 6.2L. Had a little issue removing the inlet at the base of the lower box. Thought for sure I was going to break the box. Got 90% through the install and realized that there should have been two couplers included in the kit, unfortunately there was only one. Me, doing the man look when I checked the parts inventory just saw coupler without noticing there should have been 2. left the inlet on the lower box and reinstalled the rest of the original system. Contacted S&B and my local distributor. SB came back immediately and said that they had a problem with some of their kits only going out with one coupler and asked for address to ship replacement immediately. As I am in Abu Dhabi that would take at least 10 days. Contacteed my distributor here and they are stripping the part from another kit for me and I'll have this afternoon. They checked their inventory and found 30% were short of the couplers. Gotta say the customer service from both SB and my local shop have been outstanding.

Default Problems with my K&N causing my 13 3.7 stx to run lean.

I need help i bought this K&N cai and after install went for a ride and immediately heard rattling sounds in engine so i took it out and the sounds went away. From what I've read online it's causing my truck to run lean and i need a tune. I called K&N and they say it's not there cai causing this and they acted like i was crazy and would not let me return it. I have run all my trucks with a K&N cai and never had to tune it and with no issues at all. I have no clue what tune i need. They sell pre programmed tunes are these safe? And which one do i get? Thanks in advance!

2018 Lariat 3.5L v6

Looking to get a CAI either Rouch, S&B, or K&N. Just want a little more sound, but not expecting to change the exhaust. Obviously the open boxes are louder than the closed.

How much more HP has anyone with a 2018 - 3.5L seen in their mod and how did it sound? Open or close box? Any assistance is appreciated.

I have the Roush intake on my 2.7 L EB and as far as sound, you will not here much with or without the cover. If I was to guess, it feels a little faster in the top end of the RPM range around 5500 or so. Maybe an extra 10 hp or maybe just butt hp. Either way I am happy with it and look to add the Roush single exit exhaust with black tips next. I had a K&N intake on previous vehicles and noticed the sound a lot more with that intake on versus the Roush on my current truck. All three are probably great options IMO, but I live in Louisiana and I wanted something covered similar to the factory airbox because of how hot and humid the summers are here. Good luck!!
