Does the "hatch" seal well with the tailgate step?

Yes in that it does not allow rain water into the back. It overlaps the tailgate. We sleep in it when camping. It has a rubber gasket. It does not make an air tight seal. That is no big deal because there is a gap all around between the tailgate and the bed. I have not bought a seal for that gap yet.

If you buy one consider the electric lock. You can wire it to the truck so it locks/unlocks with the fob. I did that with my tailgate too.

Also. I really like the paint. It is automotive paint and the color matches great. Mine is carpeted inside. They also have the option for roof racks.
It comes with a small LED in the back but I added two strips of lights along the ceiling.
