Camshaft Kit Choice?
Hello y'all!
My name is Damion Collier and I'm new to this forum, but glad to be here! I have a 2013 Lincoln Navigator with the 5.4L 3-Valve engine. I make my living laptop tuning vehicles and installing stage 2 &3 camshaft kits in the newer eagle Hemi engines. That's my bread and butter besides flipping cars for profit. I use ma Navigator for towing these vehicles, instead of a truck, because it intimidates the seller, I'm a hell of a negotiator, and it's still nice for vacations with the family. Mine has had a lifter ticking for some time now, but I stay so busy I didn't get around to fixing it before it destroyed a couple lobes on one of my camshafts. The roller rockers are the cause of this failure.
I have the MPV3 Device, with an AEM-Series Wideband Oxygen Sensor, and experience, so why not replace these cams with high performance cams is what I'm thinking! However, I don't know how to choose. My Dodge Charger was easy, Stage 2 HRT CompCams 82+ HP gain. I understand that Fords & Chevy don't gain as much power from camshaft upgrades, but they still are significant gains. Not to mention the sound alone is priceless.
I use the vehicle to tow each car I buy to repair & resale for a profit. I have a 22" all steel, double axled, dove tailed car hauler. I want this camshaft upgrade to improve torque as much as possible for towing, since that's its main job, but I love additional HP too.
Would someone please help me pick an affordable camshaft kit that would meet my needs? That is, mostly to improve towing capacity, low end torque, but also to improve HP as much as we can too. Finding a middle ground. I want a Stage 2 Camshaft. Tuning is not an issue. I just don't understand how to pick a cam for a Ford, or in general. I don't see a lot of options or descriptions. Would anyone please help me pick a camshaft quickly so that I can get back on the road.
Thank you, for reading all that!
My truck is all I have right now and stuck until I can get the right advise to make this decision. I'm definitely not going back stock. I will appreciate any comments, suggestions, advise, links to kits that you recommend, etc.
