Default Bug Shields Effective?

Recently installed a chrome EGR bug shield. After the recent trip I'm wonder why I put the thing on the truck! No reduction in bug guts on the windshield and a HUGE increase in wind noise from the shield makes me regret my decision. Anyone else having the same problems. Should I just sell this pretty piece of plastic to someone else or throw it in the trash?

I went with the bug shield to help with rock chips on the hood. they hit the windshield from time to time but I have only had one chip since I have had the shield on. its been maybe 4 years.

I've had them in the past but never again. I found that all they did was throw everything on the windshield. Plus it's hard to keep clean behind the deflector. Still get bugs on the front of your vehicle...so what's the point? Just my opinion......ur welcome to yours too.

This is exactly my point. The main reason I bought a bug shield was to SHIELD the front glass so I don't have to clean my windshield on the return portion of the road trip. If they don't work......why bother. I guess it might keep rock chips from forming on the hood but they are still going to happen to the front of the vehicle.

I've had them in the past on different trucks but realized they don't really do much of anything and they sure don't make the truck look any better. When I bought my 03 it came with one and that was literally the first thing that took off and damn you should have seen how dirty it was behind the bug shield. Never again for me.

Talking Class Action Law Suit???

So I hear everybody saying that as a shield for bugs..........they are worthless! Even though they are called bug SHIELDS.........they do not do any shielding of bugs! Sounds like a big scam to get our money! I'm ready to start a Class Action Law Suit for false advertising and fraud against us truck owners. We will target all Bug Shield manufacturers and retail outlets for perpetuating this GROSS injustice. Who's with me?

They were/are a novelty more than anything but I do have to admit, I saw first hand how they saved my windshield, a rock popped out from a truck ahead of me on the expressway about 70mph and if that shield hadn't been there my windshield would have been toast.

I guess it's pretty cheap insurance but only if the angle of attack from the flying debris is at juuussstttt the right angle. Dumb luck more like.

It's a nice dress up touch on some vehicles.

I like mine for the flag. Had similar one on my last truck since 2001. Still get rock chips and bugs.
