Bilstein 5100s @ Stock Ride Height Settings?
#11
5100's @ stock height and rear hellwig sway bar are now installed - night and day difference. The front-to-back pitch while braking and accelerating have been cut down to nearly 15% of what it was and for a fraction of the time. The side-to-side roll is essentially gone. I figured the sway bar would be more noticeable on highway on and off ramps, but I notice it the most while turning through intersections. The truck is more level and smoother over most road imperfections.
I did notice while on the stock shocks, medium to large size bumps would typically rock the truck along every which axis for several meters after initial contact. Now it's more abrupt and jarring at initial contact, but the truck levels out immediately after. I now understand what people meant when they said "stiff, but in a good way". It feels like the initial contact is more harsh, but with the truck leveled out in a fraction of the time, you simply carry on without thinking of it.
I can finally enjoy the ride quality again. Thanks for your input!
Cheers!

Sorry to revive an almost 3 year old thread but did you guys end up getting any lift at all from setting the 5100’s on the lowest setting? From what I’ve read up on them, they seem to lift the truck up around 1/4”-1/2” even at stock height setting.

Hard to tell changes when two things are done at once (swaybar and dampers) but i have to ask, doesn't adding a rear sway bar mean it won't articulate as well off-road?
