Angry Better Alternators?

I got myself a brand new 2012 F150 XLT 4x4 with the 5.0 coyote back in novermber. Had a rainy day here about a week ago and a friend and I decided to take his jeep and my truck out muddin. Apperantly some genious at ford thought it would be a great idea to put the alternator on the bottom of the motor. So I hit a nice big mud puddle, and as you might have guess the alternator takes a dump. Tried to drive it back home but the 7 computers drained my batter (which was faulty apperantly) pretty quick. No computers, no truck. So I broke down on the side of the road in the middle of phoenix at 2 in the morning with only 7,000 miles on a brand new truck. They came and got my truck but ford roadside assistance would not give me a ride home.

Long story short, ford would not cover the alternator or labor (they did cover the battery however) and $650 later, I had a new alternator. What suck more is earlier that day I made a $700 truck payment.

So My question is, is there a kit to relocate or a shield to better protect the alternator so that I can not have to buy another one? I live whereit snows and there is always mud around and the truck is offroad a lot. Thanks!
