Stay away from the oiled filter, they are well known for damaging the mass air flow sensor.

Keep intake stock, throw on a cat back exhaust for sound and tune that puppy.

I have an sctx4 with 5* tunes from stage 3 motorsports, they sell it with a powertrain warranty just incase. http://www.stage3motorsports.com/Sta...om-Tuning.html

I've had no issues on three different trucks using oiled filters. You just have to make sure to use the appropriate amount.

Well, here I was all ready to drop some big coin on a K&N or similar unit. guess I'm better off with the tuner.

I just got the K&N CAI and it is coming off and and being replaced by a drop-in K&N. I'm a K&N fan and have NEVER had issues with their drop-in filters. That being said I installed the K&N and after the first car wash I noticed soapy water in the intake box.

I wish I would have listened better and now have to return the K&N CAI. IMHO those are poorly designed for our trucks which, I have learned, already have CAI stock.

My mods will be a drop-in filter and exhaust until my warranty is out, then I'll probably get a tune. Other than that I'll focus on creature comforts like adding a sub, liners, toolbox, mud flaps, etc. to enhance the ownership experience.

I have the k&n kit in my 11 screw, with 100k and 6.5 box, 4x4 running 35's. I lost 1.7 mpg city when I installed the lift and 35s, since the intake, I gained it all back, better throttle response, sound is awesome, it feels stronger. I am quite pleased with it, but I am still going to get a tune.

BTW I have a Airaid Jr intake. Only for looks and to be able to run the Mustang engine cover. The highflow filter with the tube made so much noise i removed the filter and out the stock filter back in. It uses the stock airbox and just changes the filter and tube.

How much of a difference did this make? I was thinking of putting the stock tube back on my truck and leave the Airaid filter on. I like how easy it is to take the filter out vs. the stock one. I clean mine every 2500 miles.

Not a lot at all. It's a tiny bit louder than stock but no power or mpg gains were noticed. As I said I only did it for looks and to fit the Mustang intake cover.

K&N intake is a good choice. It will increase performance of your truck and HP.

To me, aftermarket intakes are pretty much the same when it comes to functionality and don't expect tremendous improvement on your rig.
