after reading about the AF1 it has me thinking..... Found one on ebay that looks just like it and cheaper.

I dont see why it would matter what order you went between the CAI and exhaust.

I did that and did not see a huge improvement with the butt dyno. I never did a before and after dyno on just the air filter. I would get the whole kit if I were you. It advertises 7HP on our trucks I got 13 peak hp with it.

Default help

I have a '91 F-150 XLT Lariat 5.0 V8 4x2. It has no mods whatsoever. I want to keep this truck forever and I want to increase my mpgs and any hp or torque gains are just a bonus. I want to add a cold air intake but most of them dont go back that far. An exhaust system will come later but I will need some more skills before I do that. I can follow instructions but have no real experience with trucks. thanks in advance.

Like Mithel, I'm more interested in what kind of difference in mileage all'a'y'all're getting out of your cold air intakes. After reading through 8 pages of this thread, I'd be inclined to pick between the Airforce1 and the K&N (probably the latter), but I'm only really interested in doing it to squeeze a little more fuel mileage out of the motor. I've got more than enough power bone stock. (I drove a 3.0L Ranger before I bought this truck).

So can I realistically expect to see more that 1-2 mpg difference? I'll definitely replace my paper filter with a reusable one, it's silly not to, but why spend the extra money for the whole FIPK if it isn't going to pay for itself?

i say it is gonna take quite awhile to pay itself back, and bet most dont see a 2mpg increase. The 3-5hp gain and free flowing air, I am not sure is gonna add up to much gain in mpg.
