Default Reason for camera

I've often thought an emblem camera would be useful for parking, whether creeping up to another car or a wall/barrier - often these land yachts need to make themselves as small as possible.
That said, outside of parking or terrain navigation, I think they have very limited use. The dash cam is the proper solution for keeping a record of meteorites and bad drivers as they have much higher resolution, low-light performance, onboard storage, and gps/speed/date/time tagging, motion and crash detection, audio recording, etc. Just remember to swallow the SD card if you're the one at fault.

Works nice, but I do have a couple of issue.
First, because its a backup camera, the image is reversed! OOPS!
Second, I guess I forgot you cant leave video on while driving (I plugged the camera into the AV input) so it defeats the purpose of having a front mounted camera.
I think I am going to pull this camera out and get a lockpick (air model) and a Ford symbol mounted model.
Costs a wee bit more (lol) but at least it will function as I need it to, which is mostly for assisting while parking.

You really do get what you pay for

Here's our kit bundled with the Lockpick Air (yep costs a bit more than the $10 eBay special but it's a high quality camera and the lockpick greatly enhances your life!). Not to mention you will not only see clearly ahead of you in tight spaces but you will stream data from your smart phone to the screen wirelessly, override all locked functions of your radio/navi while moving, turn your cameras on anytime you want including auto front cam below 8mph... the list goes on.

Use the forum discount code of F150FORUM and save a little bit along the way.

Want to be really cool? Add the side cameras that mount under your side mirrors and they will activate automatically with your turn signals... a full 360 degree view all displayed in your factory Ford Touch 8" radio!

I'd totally buy a lockpick and additional cameras if I had the cash to burn right now. I'd love to see a good 360 option as well (only seen one aftermarket unit around the interwebs).

Is there any chance of getting a copy of the installation manual of this system. My concerns are about the mounting of the camera. Since the hood opens and that's where the camera gets mounted, how are the wires run? Where does the camera get its power from? Is the camera reversed picture? How does the wire run into the cab? Does the camera stay powered 24 / 7?
Like kobayashi maru said, I would love one now, but I also don't have that kind of cash right now either. I may have to do it in pieces (buy the lock pick one month, etc.)

No problem another member purchased one of our kits and actually did a really nice writeup on the entire process with photos:

The MyTouch Air was not out yet when he installed his kit but it's a very similar type of installation. The Lockpick is plug and play with your factory radio so you remove the radio and simply plug it in. It does all the programming for you.

The Lockpick will control all your cameras so they simply connect to the camera inputs on the Lockpick device, which also supplies power to the cameras. The rear camera is only powered in reverse but all other camera power triggers on the Lockpick are accessory powered so the cam is available anytime.

Our front camera system is forward looking but our rear view camera system is mirrored. This is a professional system so you will not have to worry about a forward camera showing a reversed image. The camera harness runs through an existing rubber grommet by your brake booster on the firewall. You don't have to drill any holes in your floor or firewall to install.

Thanks and let us know if you have any other questions.

oooo I had no idea you guys sold the mirror cameras... I was just saying the other day how I would love that option in my '12 King Ranch since I do live near a semi suspect area..... I could check my surroundings before getting out or moving.

Soon as my tax return comes in it looks like my "Penny" is getting some side view cameras. ~200 bucks isn't bad for both.

I'm have emblem cam coming in today. Bought a new Magellan GPS unit with AV input and will have it up on the dash and just tap the screen when the camera is need or have it down on the floor in front of the console. My radio does not support the lock pic. I will tie it into a circuit that is only on when the truck is running

I have the Kenwood DNX890HD. I was able to connect the factory camera to the head unit no problem. Works great. Hold down the audio button and you can see it any time. Then I bought the ridiculously priced Kenwood CMOS320 camera and installed it on the front in the grill. It has a video output, power input and 2 other wires that are used to communicate with the head unit. You can reverse the image so you can use it as a rear or front camera. You can select wide angle, overhead, corner or regular view. In dark conditions, it works far far better than the factory camera.

how much of the warranty does the lock pic have the potential to void if one has a dill hole of a dealer? I can see them voiding a ton of stuff since it is a software hack. any experience?
