Default After Market Stereo

I am new to this forum and wanted to pose this question. I want to change the 6disc cd/mp3 player in my truck. I own a 2005 f150 Lariat supercrew. I would like to a new double din stereo. Are there any reccomendations. Also, if I install an aftermarket stereo, will I still be able to use the steering wheel controls for the radio?

Unless something has changed no you will not be able to use the steering wheel controls. You have a GREAT radio in the dash now. Why change it? Unless you are going with a flip out screen dvd player or something. My wifes truck has the 6 disc changer and I tried to talk her out of it and she was not having it.

My cd player often ejects the discs in the changer saying they are bad discs. It also seems to take forever to read a new cd when I Switch from one disc to the next. I was thinking about putting a double din dvd/cd/mp3/navigation/ in my truck. I have not performed the switch yey because I did not want to loose the steering wheel control features. I have heard from car stereo installers that there is some type of aftermarket adapter that will allow me to keep my steering wheel controls functional with an aftermarket stereo but I have yet to see this (if it exists)

There is a adapter called a PIE. Try WWW.Logjamelectronics.com.
Check out one of the other F-150 forums;there are loads of info on other head units. If you have the Audiophile unit w/subwoofer some of the other aftermarket hu's do not support it. Have you tried a cleaning cd in you unit ?
