Default Add cruise control to 2016 F-150 XL?

My 2016 F-150 XL is a bare bones work truck that didn't come with cruise control. Is it possible to add this on? Easily? I've seen the Ford factory cruise control switch for sale but can it be added to my existing steering wheel ? Is it as easy taking the trim off, hooking up the new switch adapter, and getting Ford to program? Or do in need a new steering wheel with it on? Is the wiring and modules needed already in place? I'd rather not get one of those aftermarket cruise control arms you hook up.

Go to the dealership. I believe they can add it to a XL.

I went to a Ford dealership and they said adding cruise control is not possible. Is this correct though? Bc I've seen several stories of people adding it.

That's interesting. I don't see it for the 2016 f150. Ford does have it for the model years 2011-2015. Maybe it's not out yet.

We have two 2015 XL's where I work, and we were told it is not possible...the dealership went as far as putting a new steering wheel with the controls in it, but they couldn't get the system working.

That's a bummer. Strange that it's such a big deal to add an aftermarket part like that. It's a pretty standard option too. Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to ask one more dealer just to see. Appreciate it.

I think 2015 & 2016 are the same when it comes to the steering wheel with its control options. This is the exact cruise control part:

The steering wheels on 2014 and older are different layouts.

Default Yes, it can be done easily

I just got this to work. I swapped a steering wheel from a 2015 XL with cruise, and then enabled cruise related settings in the various modules with Forscan using ASBUILT Hacker to look up the proper settings in the "known options" tab.

No other hardware or wiring changes are needed.

what all did you change? I know of 1 setting in the BCM, 1 in the SCCM, & 1 in the IPC... did you change anything else?

I did this;

SCCM 724-03-01 11xx xxxx --
IPC 720-01-02 xxxx 1x--
BCM 726-13-01 xxx8 xxxx xx--

plus changed a few settings in the RCM and FCIM based on using VIN 1FTEX1EP6FFC82325 (a 2.7L 2015 F150 XL with cruise) as a comparison in AS Built Hacker. I'm not sure if these did anything though, because I did it before doing the above, so try the above first.
