Tonneau cover on sale!!
FYI, Realtruck.com has the BAK Vortrak cover on sale with $420 off for a total of $899. This is an aluminum roll up cover that retracts into a canister in the front of the bed. Sale is only good until this Saturday, Feb 1, 2020.

I only found great reviews but just found out that BAK does not make the Vortrak cover any longer. (maybe that is why it is on sale) I was told their "sister company", Retrax, makes retractable covers.
Just my luck.

It’s on sale for the same price at multiple sites, so must be clearing out a discontinuities model. I came across multiple reviews that complained about the poor fit and some quality issues, for what it’s worth.

I just got off the phone with BAK Industries and they tell me that Retrax will start selling this model and they will honor the 2 year warranty. Feeling better.

Thank you for the additional info. I am considering pulling the trigger, but it’d be nice to hear from someone on the forum that has had one. Please feel free to pass along any other info. I am going to dig a little deeper on my lunch break.

Mine arrived this morning and I plan to install it this weekend and will post here how that goes along with my thoughts on quality.
I'm replacing my soft tonneau cover that the dealer installed for me so that I can have better security for items in the bed when I go on a cross country road trip this summer.

The amazon reviews are a lot more positive than the couple of vendor sites I looked at.
Are you aware, generally, if the security of the retractable covers are better than the higher end trifolds?

I don't. I assumed that it would be secure. The clamp system on the rails uses two solid clamps on each side rail and the canister is bolted to the rails from underneath. It looks like it will be secure.

Installed the cover today. Easy enough job. The rubber seal over the tailgate is not as robust as I would like to see and I need to get direction from the dealer about where to drill holes in the bed for the canister drain tubes. The plastic cap on the bed needs to sanded down a bit at the tailgate on both sides to allow the cover bed rails to lay flat, that will help with the seal at the tailgate on the corners.
The mechanism works smooth enough and the cover rolls up into the canister with little effort and the attached pull strap makes it easy to deploy the cover all the way back to the tailgate.
It will provide security that I'm looking for on a road trip this summer. It will also make a solid platform to set my rifle bipod on to shoot varmints for farmers. (that's another story)
Nice cover.
