Default Will 5$ gallon gas this summer = 5.0L Raptor in 2012?

I went back and forth between buying a 2011 Raptor and a 2011 FX4 w/5.0L 1st of the year and ended up settling with the 2011 FX4 with the 5.0L

I've put new tires and Bilsteins on my FX4. I really like the new 5.0L. I feel it's plenty strong and would have bought a Raptor if the 5.0L has been an option.

I fact, I like the Raptor so much, I would probably trade my new truck on a Raptor next year if Ford makes a Raptor with the 5.0L.

Anyone else thinking 5$ a gallon gas this summer might = 5.0L raptor in 2012?

The 5.0 and EcoBoost aren't set up for hydraulic power steering and that is one of the requirements for the Raptor due to the increased stresses on the steering components from the larger running gear and high speeds (12V EPAS isn't strong enough). Automobile magazine specifically asked SVT engineers about this.

Plus I imagine it would be somewhat underwhelming much like the 5.4 was considering it ways a 1/2 ton more than the standard F150. Even though it has a 4.10 thats about equivalent to a regular 4x4 F150 with 3.55 so it wouldn't be real quick off the line with the 5.0 like most would want.

No the 5.4 has only ever had Hydraulic Steering. EPAS is a new feature this year model for the 3.7, 5.0, and 3.5 EB motor line.

Well consider the government just released 30 billion barrels of oil from the strategic oil reserves gas is going down about another 50 cents. Down 5 more dollars a barrel.

If you buy a raptor you dont care about fuel milleage. Get the fx4 and look at camburgs answer to the raptor. www.camburg.com The only thing it wont come with is the off road button and an oragne stripe on the wheel.

Hate to be a party pooper, but really?!?! The Raptor has a lot more than just shocks going for it. The truck is 7" wider, including suspension bits, body panels, and all supporting features to implement it. The shocks are only a small part of the why of Raptors.

Exactly people think that 10 grand on suspension would give them a better truck than the raptor. It's built from the ground up to Off Road people. It's got stronger brakes, stronger frame, wider stance, stronger axles, better CV Joints, Better Ball Joints, Etc.

It's not all suspension travel if you bottom out your sixteen inches of travel and your frame isn't strong enough to take the remainder of the force guess what? You need a new truck to but your bad *** suspension on.
