Default Towing with a Raptor / Tow Mirrors

Anyone done any towing with their 2017 Raptor? Ordering one and occasionally would want to tow a boat/small travel trailer. Curious how it does up hills (live in Arizona).

Also anyone seen the larger style Tow Mirrors that work with a loaded raptor. With all the new technology in mirrors (cameras, lights, etc) seem like they are getting to difficult to upgrade without spending a fortune.

Make sure you check the reduced payload of the Raptor to verify it can tow what you want.

Other than that it should have the same or more power than standard ecoboost.

Like post #2 says, check ur payload, Raptor can't tow much, I think someone had only 1,100 payload that's like four big guys in the truck only.......

Your problem isn't pulling as it will pull a house it's your payload!! Especially on a raptor I wouldn't play around

Just get some aftermarket clip on one of you do not tow much...

With 510 Ft/lbs of Torque I doubt the truck even cares

With the old raptor (new one is probably the same) the only difference in the rear spring pack between it and a regular F150 was it had one less leaf....which is also the only logical reason for the raptors reduced capability.

If you add a set you air bags to a raptor, the effective spring rate can be changed to accommodate the amount of weight you are towing.

Once you add air bags I would have no issues with towing the same as any other F-150 with the max tow package....

Regardless what some thing. The sticker on the door is what your payload is and that number doesnt change if you add bags, springs, etc...

Ford has to put a low payload number on the Raptor because of the low spring rates for liability reasons.

In the real world the Raptor has the same brakes, brake controller, Integrated hitch, but it also has:

More torque, HP, 4:10 gears, Increased cooling capacity, stronger suspension mounts, and 10 ply tires. A simple spring rate adjustment via air bag installation would make a Raptor a superior tow rig compared to a standard F-150.

Z7what...By your avatar it looks like that you have levelled your truck? Without the factory rake your truck is now has significantly less towing capacity...do you still go by your sticker?

I saw a 17 raptor towing a 5000lb trailer and the back had a crazy amount of sag. Looked like it was near the bumps. Add airbags be weary of payload. I think that truck had like 1000-1100lbs of payload...

Raptor spring rates are allot looser than any other f150, even adding a spring it's still allot less due to their being a very low load progressive. Their designed to take hits while absorbing the load, put a load on it and you've taken that away. Adding air bags while works, also adds a whole new set of problems unless you get SDHQ's Raptor specific air bag system, problem is the bags are short travel, and those pesky progressive springs are not being allowed to function as designed, which essentially turns your Raptor in a true air ride. Loose a bag from tearing it apart and now your going to have even more problems. If your Want to tow, your options are all compromises except changing the rear springs out to a custom set of RPG's (the Deavers don't change load) or SDHQ's long travel Raptor air ride kit.
