Default SYNC 3 Issues

Hi. 2019 Raptor. Recently the audio/display system would change its settings every time the truck was turned off. Examples would be changing the source (Satellite, FM, Blue tooth), background settings, pre-sets, or a black screen, etc. Multiple resets (power+right seek button for 10 seconds) and system master resets did not rectify the situation. Disconnecting the battery and pulling the fuses to the display and audio system similarly did not solve the problem. Finally took the truck to the dealership and they confirmed that I had the latest software updates. In similar fashion to what I had already done, they tried to reset the system with no luck. Now they are telling me that they want to start replacing the modules (of which there are 7) to see if they can get the system to work? The cost of each module is ~$1700 and when I asked the service manager what happens if they replace a module and the system is still down, his response was that they would replace a 2nd module and continue to replace modules (seemingly at random) until the SYNC system was restored. He also made it clear that I was responsible for the cost and installation of each module they replaced even if the module turned out to not be the issue .... so I could be on the hook for ~$12,000.00 if they replace all the modules! Furthermore, I asked him what would happen if they replaced all the modules and the system still wasn't functioning properly and his response was that "they'd replace the whole SYNC system" and said that that approach would be "expensive" ... as though spending $12,000 as they arbitrarily change out modules isn't expensive enough.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing - either with the SYNC system or with their dealership service dept?? It just seems like the dealership is either (1) incompetent or (2) gouging me for $$ as they randomly start replacing parts instead of actually taking the time to properly diagnose the issue.

Thanks!

Hey man, the problems you are experience in seem to be connected to a recent update for the sync 3 that went out about 2 months ago. my radio was perfect until then as well. all my setting change and my screen freezes. i've read in a few forums where a lot of peoples are having this same issue. Definitely don't trust the dealership

Wow! That's crazy. I wonder if the dealership can uninstall the latest update and put the old one back on to see if the system returns to normal? Thank you for this info. I am calling the dealership now.

In typical "can't do" fashion the service tech says that once the SYNC system is updated there is no way to revert to a previous version ... which I find somewhat difficult to believe. I think I am going to live with the quirks for now and see what happens after the next software update. Beats spending thousands of $ and hoping that the problem is resolved by arbitrarily replacing random pieces of hardware.

Hey everyone, I can't believe how widespread this issue seems to be with the recent SYNC 3 update. It's frustrating to hear that even the dealership couldn't provide a solution. I'm in the same boat, experiencing these changes in settings and frozen screens after the update. MadMizzy, thanks for sharing your experience and confirming that I'm not alone in this. It's disappointing that there's no way to revert to a previous version after updating. I guess I'll also wait for the next software update and hope for a fix. If anyone comes across that thread about jailbreaking and fixing the issue, please do share the details. Let's hope for a resolution soon!

I ended up just ordering a replacement apim and I just won't let it connect to the Internet so it won't update. It has been working perfectly. I'm lucky the company replaced it for me.

Ford just released a new update to correct the issues. Was having the same issues on my '19 Raptor. Installed the new update and it has worked flawlessly since last Thursday.
You can find the update on the Ford Connect website. I used the USB Thumb Drive for the update, but it may be able to be done via WiFi.
