Default Raptor R auto stop-start

My son bought a Raptor R, and it does not have auto stop-start enabled. He also bought a Raptor, and it has auto stop-start enabled.

Yes there is a module you can buy and install to do this. Or you can disable it with an OBD module and software called Forscan. Google can help you here.

Your son is so lucky. I hate the stop start so much that I paid $89 for a module to plug in behind the dash to turn it off. No I find I could have done it myself with forscan. Ugh

Is auto start/stop not in newer vehicles?

Sure it is. I don't know about the Raptor specifically, but the newer F-150's all have it. I find it annoying which is why I disable it.

During Covid a lot of vehicles, especially GM, couldn’t get the chips for stop start. They were refunding people $50 per vehicle without the chip.

The whole stop start thing is stupid. The government said it will save you gas. Sure, a whole gallon in 40,000 miles.

The real reason for it was emissions. Imagine 100 cars at a red light in Los Angeles with their engine off for three minutes. No doubt it helped.

The cost was tremendous. The manufacturers had to design heavy duty or auxiliary starters, a/c systems so people didn’t complain when the engine was off, supplemental cooling systems so engines over heat, etc etc etc. A whole lot of extra stuff the WE PAID FOR ON EVERY CAR!!

When I ordered my 2024 Ranger Raptor and tracked the progess online for almost 5 months, the options listed online included auto start/stop delete. Even the online window stickers showed the delete. Most everybody on the Ranger Raptor forum were all excited about the delete. Unfortunately, 2024 Ranger Raptors came with full functioning auto start /stop and not the delete.
