Default New to raptor, help.

I’m new to the raptor scene, always been a Ford guy and loved the raptor. I’m now looking into buying a used raptor. I’ve found a very well maintained 2018 802a with 55k miles on it. It has some modifications. Leveling kit, fog light kit, 22” fuel rims, cat back exhaust, ceramic coated, and new brakes all around. I’m looking at buying it for 57k. I saw a post from before COVID and this price seems high. But with the used market the way it is currently my big question is am I getting a fair deal? Thanks for any help.

Can you wait? By the time you pay TTL you may be north of $60k. That’s a lot of cash for a modified truck with its most reliable years in the rear view.

I suppose I could wait, just finally got the okay from the Mrs. ya know. Also patients isn’t my strong suit. That being said I don’t have sales tax in my state and registration should only be about 500 so all in I’ll be about 57500.
I should have mentioned also that I’ve searched all around my area within 200 miles I am finding the cheapest gen 2 raptors I can find are 2017 with slightly higher miles for north of 58k.

Seems like a decent price considering the current situation. One of the local dealers here has a 2017 with 58,882 miles for $62,990.
However, I'd ask for a discount because of the 22" rims.

If I buy it the 22” rims will be getting swapped for sure either for factory or something similar. Also looks like we are neighbors.

The question you came here to ask is, is this a good deal?
The question you should be asking is, should I spend $57k+ for a used truck?

Personally, I would wait for the supply chain to stabilize and buy a brand new loaded Lariat in the same price range. You can do suspension, tires, and a tune if you want a sportier experience.

This.

I wouldn't spend that much on a used truck basically out of warranty. Can you order a new raptor for 10k more? Get by with an 801 level instead of 802?

Yes the price is a bit high but that is the market right now. As for buying a new one for $10K more thats not gonna happen. Budget at least $20K more and thats IF you can find a dealer who wont charge an admin fee over sticker. AND your going to wait at least 3 or more months for delivery. Raptors hold their value quite well, its a decent deal with the extras. I purchased my 20 Raptor new in Feb of 21 and when I took it in for its first oil change the dealer offered me $10K more than I paid for it. The market is crazy right now and most are overpaying for used vehicles due to shortage of new vehicles.

I ended up getting into an 2018 raptor 802a with 45k miles for 54k. Maybe not the deal of the century, but I finally have my dream truck!

An 800a raptor with torsen and tow tech is 67,xxx.

You just have to find one or order one.

But it's a moot point as he bought an 18.
