*****my 2019 performance blue raptor

I'm not a frequent poster here, though I do a lot of lurking. I post mainly on the Macan forum, even though I no longer own a Macan.

In 2017 I bought my first truck, a Raptor. I figure, go big or go home. It was my only vehicle. I've been enamored with the Raptor since Gen 1, though I never knew much about it except it looked so darn cool. And as my favorite toys when I was a kid were Tonka, I figured the Raptor was an adult Tonka. After about 10 months, having come from a Porsche, I missed the handling of it, etc. I traded that Raptor but never forgot it and always missed it. Fast forward a couple of Porsches, my most recent F150 Platinum, and I fell back in love with the 2019 Raptor, especially the changes. One thing I did not like about my former Raptor was the seat cushion I felt was a bit short. I'm a shade under 6' and it didn't adequately provide under-thigh support. I was spoiled by the awesome seats on my Porsche which, like some BMWs and I believe the GT350, has adjustable fore and aft under thigh support. When I got the Platinum I immediately noticed the seat cushion was longer and felt better. The Platinum had soft, comfort steering and that made it a bit tough to handle on winding roads as I felt it a bit sloppy. As I said, I've not that much experience with trucks.

Well, this past Sunday, as I posted elsewhere, I got a very good trade value on my 2018 Platinum with 7k miles and bought the new Raptor. The graphics package, while quite a pricey option, is a big improvement and is actually 3D, with raised design. Very nice and high quality.

The suspension, and I've obviously only been on road as I only have it two days, is the major improvement, and believe me when I tell you, it's a huge difference. I don't know if the frame of the truck has also been strengthened but it now feels as one, instead of a cab and a bed over large bumps. It has a very composed ride, and I've been aiming for every pothole I can find. I'm going to have a long-term love affair with this truck. The Recaros are very comfortable and hug just right, not too much to as to be confining or intrusive, but just enough. The material is also nice.

The adjustable steering, which my last Raptor also had, seems better sorted with the sport setting much more usable. It feels tight and responsive.

I won't bore you any longer. Here are some pics. Please feel free to comment, slap me down if I've stated something wrong and set me right.

CF interior. Just noticed a line across. Not sure what that is. Will check.

Nice blue stitching all around to match the seats:

Love these seats. Proper firmness, not too hard, not too soft, just about perfect.

Nice trim continues on seat back.

Didn't have the beadlock capable wheels last time. I like them.

Very Nice! I often want to go this route. I pay 600 on a Mustang I rarely drive and almost 600 on my 18 F150 XLT. I could have one baddass Raptor....augh.....Congrats!

MDJAK 12-17-2018 05:48 PM

And btw, I measured the seat cushion. On the 17-18 Raptor is a 20”. On the 19 with Recaros it’s 21”. On my Platinum it was also 21. That one inch at least to me makes a big difference.

MDJAK 12-17-2018 05:50 PM

Sorry for multiple posts. I should note I had a pedal commander in my Platinum. That thing is amazing, but I set it to city after a while and just left it so I don’t know if I will even use it again.

Scrappy Doo 12-18-2018 03:04 PM

Looks great. I like the new wheels

bobn 12-19-2018 02:17 PM

How does it ride compared to your platinum?

I’ve only done about 200 miles but I feel it rides better in every way and much better than my former Gen 2 Raptor. And although I haven’t stepped on it, it seems noticeably slower than the Platinum but I don’t mind.

Bigcat1185 12-21-2018 03:26 PM

Very nice.

XtinctElise 12-28-2018 03:40 PM

This is an awesome truck! I have 2019 on order in the color. So with the interior color accent package you DO get the carbon fiber trim?

The dealer thought it might be blue trim instead of CF.

MDJAK 12-28-2018 04:55 PM

I’ll say I may be wrong, but CF trim is an option that I believe cost about $900. I don’t believe it’s included with anything else. It stands alone. I don’t have the interior accent trim. I have Recaros which is an $1800 option.

idrive 12-28-2018 05:27 PM

Right now I'm wishing I didn't tow anything. That is one super sharp truck.

Congrats and may you enjoy the heck out of it.

that is very kind of you. I occasionally tow a 12’ light trailer filled with 2 kayaks, my Yamaha 700 Grizzly, and my fat bikes. All total, under 2k pounds.

Actually my son will be enjoying it shortly. He’s borrowing it for a 2k round trip hiking trip from NY to Nova Scotia.

The Recaros should be part of the interior package. When u select them u can not select the CF, so it must be included! Ya!

MDJAK 12-28-2018 10:03 PM

I just checked my window sticker. Appears you are right. Mine says "Interior Color Blue Accent Package." At the top of the sticker it ways Exterior Ford Performance Blue. Interior Blue Accent/Recaro Seat. And nowhere on the sticker does it say CF trim but it's def got it throughout. Including on the shift handle which is really nice.

My dealer actually had an employee drive 90 miles in the rain today and returned my tonneau cover. Forgot my Fox racing hitch plug and lock but hopefully they will mail me that with the registration when it arrives.

I received my Squadron Pro lights from Baja Design yesterday. I put together the brackets and my daughter's boyfriend, who is a union electrician in NYC is coming over to install them tomorrow. YeeeHaaa.

XtinctElise 12-29-2018 01:32 AM

Thats awesome. Sounds like we have the same truck. I just have to wait a couple LONG months now, but I can rest easier knowing the CF is coming! Thanks for the info.

icecoldak 12-31-2018 12:46 PM

Very nice truck! Do you mind stating what they gave you for your Platinum? The more I see these raptors, the more I like lol

XtinctElise 12-31-2018 01:32 PM

Do you know of a good place to sell a 2003 F-150?

icecoldak 12-31-2018 01:58 PM

Cracklist always works

XtinctElise 12-31-2018 02:06 PM

I have a perfect truck, looking for top dollar, I doubt they will be there.

MDJAK 01-01-2019 08:30 PM

Stupid question I should probably know the answer to but don’t. I know the Raptor comes in one bed length. I had a tonneau cover on my Platinum which was the small bed. Why when I installed it on Raptor were the rails about an inch too long! Is the Raptor bed smaller than the smallest F-150 bed? Talking SCREW.

XtinctElise 01-01-2019 11:57 PM

Does the radio on the Raptor technology package allow for a DVD, Blu-ray or Streaming video input?

The Raptor bed is the same size as the rest of the crew cab beds of the same generation. The box outer panels are obviously different, but the upper rails and inner panels are all the same. Tailgate is also the same, other than the applique.

The tonneau cover should fit just fine. You might need to shift the cover around a little.

I have the Bak Revolver X4 I the one that rolls back on itself. Unfortunately the way the rails are made, you can’t position them further forward towards the cab because they have riveted brackets that butt against the bed wall on the cab end. That left the rails about half inch too long and the tailgate would not close. I cut the end of the rails but now the cover, which can be moved though I’ve yet to do that, about half inch away from tailgate and is letting in lot of rain.

I saw a Raptor today, a 17 or 18 with the beadlock capable wheels with the bolted portion of the wheel red. Where does one get that?

In the past when I have seen it done people have removed and had painted/powder coated. Here is the prior Raptor rings forsale not sure how much different 2019 rings are versus 2017-18.

My Raptor just returned from a 2600 mile journey to and from Nova Scotia. My son borrowed it to go winter camping/hiking. He took a few pics while there.

You can see the Baja Design lights I installed in my bumper cutouts. Super bright. Love them.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...8ba26318e3.jpg

Of course, it wasn't until he returned to his apartment in NJ and parked in his small garage that he rubbed the passenger side running board against a concrete bollard leaving yellow paint down the edge of it and rubbing off the black finish in some spots. Looked on Ebay and they sell the pair for around 400 and up, but am seriously considering the Amp Research autofolding boards like I had and liked on my Platinum.

The amp powerstep xl would look good - as it has an integrated custom rocker panel that adds to the looks of the raptor when board is stowed.

are the factory raptor steps also meant to act as frame rails?

if you mean rock rails, no.

Great looking truck. I love the Blue. My last 3 trucks were White Black White. Sooo I just received my new leftover 2018 Roush F150 S.C. Race red and was almost Blue. There is a Blue Raptor in my neighborhood and it looks great. Have fun with the Raptor.

Here's a pic after washing it (yes, pollen fell all over it of course after wash) showing the lower grill light from Baja Design. Intensely bright.

This is the last I'm I'm peeking into this thread.

Me: Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - Raptor won't tow your RV - you get the idea.

I've started going to the golf course a different way so I don't go past the dealership.

I'd end up driving home your exact truck.

Utah, huh? I'm heading there mid August for Moab, Slot Canyon in Page, AZ, and then up to Salt Lake for RaptorAssault. In my Performance Blue Raptor.

Nice! I’m gonna jump a company jet out to Salt Lake in Sept for Assault. Need to find some place I can rent a Can-Am to shred on for a day out there before heading back home.

You're in for a real treat, especially if you haven't been out this way before.

Guess I'll have to check back as I look forward to your thoughts, pics etc. of your trip

Thank you. August of 2017 we ventured in my then 17 Shadow Black Raptor from NY to Nashville via a portion of the Blue Ridge Pkway, then up through Kansas, into Boulder for some off roading, and then onto Bryce, Arches and Zion. Didn’t go north from there to salt lake as we wanted to. We had to get back as our dog sitter was returning to college.

it was our first time in Utah. Needless to say, that’s why we are returning. Incredibly beautiful state. IMHO, it ranks right up there with AK and Hawaii. We stayed near Bryce in a lodge right in the heart of the red mountains with a river behind. Wow, just wow. I’m truly envious of anyone who is lucky enough to call it home. Only thing it’s missing is lotto. Lol.
