Default Internet Sales Manager

After my attempt to build a 2017 Raptor on Fords website, I was contacted by the internet sales manager at my local Ford Dealer. Here is how my conversation went.

Manager: I understand you are looking for a F-150.
Me: I did a build and price on the ford website for a 2017 Raptor, I do not want to spend 75k. I just want one around 54-56 without all the options.
Manager: Yes you should come in and we will locate a 2016 or 2017 raptor with all the options and milege you are looking for.
Me: They actually made them in 2016 but they came out as a 2017 model, I want a 2017 raptor in white or black around 54-56k, I am not interested in options.
Manager: You should really come in so we can locate one that will fit what you are looking for.

Has anyone actually completed a build on the ford website?

i build them online typically first so i know what im looking for. Then proceed to have the dealer build and order it for me.

If that was the actual conversation that dealer sounds like an idiot and is just trying to get you in the door. No clue why he would ask about a 16 or 17 when 16 isnt an option..

If you know what you want there is no need for you to go to the dealership.. A competent dealer can find the truck you want and give you a price.

However if you havent done business there before they may have you put money down before they do a dealer trade or place a custom build from ford ofcourse.

When I buy any vehicle I build it on line, then print it and take it in to the dealer. Negotiate a price, give them a $500 deposit and wait patiently.

If the dealer doesn't want to sell me the vehicle for what I think I should be able to buy it for I walk and then call or go to a different dealer.

In the case of the Raptor, I think MSRP is going to be very close to the best you can do. I would never pay more than that and there are dealers out there that will sell them for that.

I usually use the build and price site online before ordering a truck. However when I ordered my 2017 back in July 2016 the build and price site for F150s wasn't up and running. This time all I had to go by was the order guide which listed trim levels and options, but no pictures.

Same here.

I actually preferred the order guide as I know it was correct at the time. The build and price always seems to have a bug or two in it.

Although I wish I could have gotten the orange interior. It wasn't available with blue when I ordered and I had to drop cf to get my order picked up.

Most "internet" dept are junior even outsourced employees driven to get you to the store, they incorrectly treat it as a lead vs sales channel
