Let's say you get 40k for trade and say loaded up Raptor is 73k.

Go sit in a Raptor for 15/20 minutes and ask yourself if the raptor is worth 30k+ out of your pocket.

i was on the same fence when I purchased my 2018 F150 Lariat SE I weighed the cost of the Raptor vs mods and the mods won. I tow and other than looks the Raptor didnít serve a purpose for me. I tuned mine and put a BDS lift on. Putting Raptor front and rear bumpers on it to complete.

If you want a Raptor, get a Raptor... a lifted and whippled lariat will NOT fill that void.... I know because thats what I did. Leased a 2017 lariat due to raptor sticker shock... went back after the lease terms of 24 months and bought the Raptor. Spent every single day driving the loaded lariat wondering how much better the experience would be in the Raptor. It was a long 24 months... The Raptor is just a way better experience on and off road. Big factor to me also was the Raptors Resale value, they hardly depreciate! in 2 years your 55k lariat will be worth 30k, your 65k raptor will be worth 55k

I vote get a Raptor. I just traded my 2014 F350 in for one. I don't tow anything so the diesel was doing me no good.

Coming from a Lariat, I would have to say....yes it is worth the 30K

Sharp looking truck!

Personally, I'd vote to get other aftermarket bumpers instead of the Raptor style bumpers. We've seen nothing but issues with the Raptor style bumpers for the F-150 and we don't carry them for this reason. Just wanted to share.

I like the Raptor but would never really use the off-road features. My 2015 Lariat suits me just fine, does everything I need to do, and I kept at least $20k in my pocket. You will take a huge monetary hit if you buy one; only you can decide if it's worth it. I would never do it.

This is so far from the truth..... just look what 2013-14 raptor’s are selling for..

Right now, in my area, ‘17-18 raptors are bringing close to sticker price.

A lariat won’t give you that return.

The OP has already said he will take a $21k hit on his Lariat. Now add $30k that it will cost to buy the Raptor.

Vehicles are depreciating assets and have no "return", with very few exceptions. I buy a vehicle that suits my needs, and drive it until it starts nickel and diming me. I owned a 2002 Avalanche for 14 years prior to my Lariat. The fact is I kept at least $20k in my pocket vs buying a Raptor. How much return will I get over 14 years with that money invested at even just 4%? Yep, I'm way off base.
