You won't want to move it from the center location. This is purposely positioned in the center so that it makes the intercooler inefficient just enough so that it has less risk of building condensate (leads to engine misfire). There are already quite a few complaining about engine misfires though.

It says in the owners manual to remove license plate when off roading for best performance.
If it may affect performance...I don't want it in front of the intercooler at any time so I went with the side mount. I owned a 2011 and 2014 Ecoboost so I kind of like the side mount anyway.

EDIT: This is actually someone who modified the STO N SHO bracket to move it the side

Good thing he moved the plate. Don't want anything distracting from the front of that truck.

How did you move it to the side? Are there attachment points already in place?

I just drilled 2 small holes in the driver side plastic bumper pad. I'm going to buy another lower grill/bumper pad assembly so I will have a mint one for the future.

You won't be able to do the off-center mount if you have the higher level packages like ACC... the plate will block the electronics.

A few guys on FRF.com that have ACC mounted their plate on the passenger side bumper pad.

So you just drilled holes in the plastic pad and used self tapping screws?

I used the smallest diameter/shortest license plate screws I could find.
FWIW, I don't have adaptive cruise so I didn't have to worry about that being behind the bumper pad.I also bought a new lower grill/bumper pad assembly incase I need a mint one some day. Probably just doing the next owner a favor since I have no intentions of moving the license plate.
