2016 Platinum to 2018 Raptor

So I came from a Porsche Macan Turbo, not a pickup, to the Raptor. Never even drove, except one short test drive a year ago in a platinum, a pickup before.
Respectfully, out to lunch is how I’d describe your jumping to conclusions prematurely on the tranny.
The Porsche PDK 7 speed dual clutch tranny is probably the best tranny in any vehicle. If you’ve never test driven it, do it. I’ll bet my first born you will fall in love.
Having experienced it for 3 years and 3 Porsches, I feel I’ve experienced the best and therefore can make an intelligent statement on the Raptor 10 speed.
Put in sport mode and it holds gears, going down hill with curves it will automatically downshift to help hold speed. I drove it on Rt. 129 in August, a/k/a The Dragon, in NC/TN. It was amazingly good.
6,000 mile round trip drive to Utah in August, that 10 speed on the highway returned 17 mpg at over 80 mph which is the speed limit in Utah.
It doesn’t hunt for gears at all. What it does is carefully skip gears. It will start in 1st as you casually accelerate from a stop to 3rd, to 5th, just like it’s designed to do.
My only complaint is an occasional rough up shift when stepping on it hard.
Also, driving in sport can go unnoticed at times once up to speed on backroads. Only a glance down will show it in 6th instead of 8, 9 or 10.
Mine is a 2017 so has the Sony. I can say it’s better than the Bose in the Porsche.
Seats are good but not as good, especially the short bottom cushion and the glaring inability to move the lumbar up and down.

I stated "I will reserve final judgement for another thousand miles but here are some initial thoughts."
I made it clear this was an initial impression and stated I would reserve judgement. Did you drive my truck? Did you witness it gear hunting? Did experience clunkyness in my truck? Nope. Then I came back and stated it smoothed out around 500 miles. How am I out to lunch for calling it like it is?

Don't be a douche

Did he compare to a Porsche? No he didn't he compared to a 2016 with the 6 speed. I compared tot he 2105 6 speed.
I could care less about your Porsche... I am assuming you are namedropping and hoping we would oooh ahhhh about that. You can keep your overpriced VW comments out of the Raptor forum because it has no relevance to this topic when we are comparing the 10 speed to the older 6 speeds.
BTW, have you driven the F150's with the 6speed. If not then

MDJAK, you lost any credibility when you claimed the Sony was better than the system in the Porsche... I have the Sony in my 502A and while it is OK the one in my wife's Macan Turbo is an order of magnitude better......

Overpropped, thanks for the insights and comparos. You pretty much answered some of the questions I have been asking myself.
I must admit to having thought a little about the raptor in place of my 16 Lariat but I have resisted the urge. As you commented, it would be nice to be able to spec a Lariat or Plat type version with the HO engine (and raptor seats!) .....and possibly a more street oriented performance suspension ...for those of us who only really use it on road 95%+ of the time.
Yes, I am sure i will get flamed for missing the point of the Raptor but it would be nice to get the higher performance and still retain the street/crusing capabilities. So will keep resisting the urge for the moment....

But it is what it is. It is an offroad truck. 99.999% of what I do is on the street.
People will flame me on why I bought one. Well haha I wanted it
I wanted the power. I almost bought another Platinum with a V8 and put the Roush supercharger on. That will probably be the next one in a year or so when they fix the grill

Also forgot to mention around the same time the tranny smoothed out the power seemed to have picked up
Now that the tranny has learned all about me and the motor has settled in it is getting fun to drive
If I could just do something about the ricer noise I'd be all set.
Uh Ford, we need a Supercharged V8 Raptor, hhheeeelllllloooooooo.

I can not think of even one thing about my Platinum that this 2018 Rapter does not do better. That was right from the get-go AND the Platinum was AWESOME. Rapter is "AWESOMER". lol

Second, he went from the 10 speed SUCKS, his words, to now he doesn't notice anything wrong with the tranny.
Third, name dropping? The Raptor is 20k more than a base macan so hardly name dropping. I was merely stating my experience with what I considered to be, after 45 years of driving close to 50 different automobiles, the best and most fun tranny to experience.
All I did was state my tranny in my Raptor doesn't hunt, doesn't surge or any of the initial complaints he made, which all proved to be incorrect and jumping to conclusions as he soon learned.
So watch how you bandy about your insults, dude.
He said he had the 6 speed platinum. he didn't say in comparison to it. merely said he knew it well.
I was sticking up for a truck, the Raptor, and particularly it's tranny, which I find to be a fine one. And a fine truck.
