Default 14 Raptor purchase question

I have found a smoking deal on a 14 Raptor with 41,500 miles.

The holdup for me is that it came out of New York.

Concerned about rust. It shows no outward appearance at this time.

Any input?

Why would coming from NY cause you to worry about rust? If it came from Florida I'd worry about rust from the salt air.

But Ford pickups and other manufacturers tend to rust on the undercarriage and I don't think it's that big a deal.

Where is it in NY? Maybe a member can inspect it for you.

It is actually in New Mexico.

Carfax revealed the New York connection. My concern is the salt used on the roads.

Iíd be way more concerned thatís itís been beat to hell off-roading in NM than salt. Unless itís uostate NY, we donít get that much snow. This year so far itís snowed maybe twice. Iíd also be much more concerned with buying a 5 yr old vehicle and potential expensive repairs to things than salt.

Check the underside of the rockers and cab corners. They tend to rot the most in those areas.

I have asked him for pictures for the past two days.

Looking like he doesn't want to sell it that bad.

That was the information I was looking for.

I always buy extended warranty on used vehicles.

He just purchased it from auction earlier this month.

If this is not helpful, I apologize in advance. The thought that goes through my mind is; 1st gen Raptors in good/very good/excellent condition and low miles bring a premium commensurate with the mileage and condition. They are a desirable truck, especially the 13-14's, with the emphasis on '14. If it's priced such that it appears to be a smoking deal (and the guy isn't getting back to you with specified photos) I think you are justified in having your concerns and suspicions. Just 2 or 3 nights ago I was perusing various auto sales sites looking for just the right 1st gen Raptor and I was surprised at what they were selling for.
