Default 1990 f150 302 questions

I have a 1990 f150 with a 302 that is wore out so I pulled it out and broke it down and was wondering what would be the best option.I have a couple of questions about this motor.
1.Why does it have so many vacuum crap on it?(has a vacuum harness)
2.Could all this vacuum and egr system be removed and not have any computer issues or is there somewhere to have the computer reprogrammed.
3.What all would be involved in installing a 4.6 as far as the ECM is concerned?
3.Will the 4.6 bolt up to the automatic transmission in the truck?
4.Would it be a better choice installing a 5.8 and same questions about ecm and transmission?
5.Should I just rebuild the existing 302 and what would be the best upgades cam, head work ect and still work with ecm.

I know a lot of questions any help way would be appreciated. My father pasted away several years ago and this was his truck and he left it to my son and we are building it together.I am very familiar with fabricating and this sort of thing but my focus has always been on Chevrolet. This truck wont be a daily driver and would like for it to have a nice cam lope and make some decent horsepower nothing outrageous but fun to drive.Any advice or suggestions welcome different motor or any other ideas.

either will bolt up without much changing around of things. the biggest thing is you will need the ecm for the new engine and a knowledge of where all the wires will go as opposed to where they were. you can get rid of most of the vacum junk but will develop a check engine light, but, you can still dial everything in and make it ru good

You cannot remove the vaccum harness and run the engine with the stock ECU.

Just "Getting rid of the vaccum junk" without knowing exactly what you're removing will cause major issues.
