Help can I swap tranny from 01 to 05
I have a question concerning a transmission swap from an 2001 F150 4.6 to a 2005 F150 4.6. The particulars of each vehicle are below:
2001 F150, dual cab, 4.6 engine, VIN-1FTRW07601KC
2005 F150, dual cab, 4.6 engine, VIN-1FTRW12W75KF
Ford has a character in the VIN that is a straight up and down line, I'm not sure if it's a "1" or an "I", I used a "1" for that character.
The question is this, will the transmission from the 01 bolt up and work in the 05 without any issues? The 01 was totaled this morning and I have the opportunity to get the 05 but it has a bad transmission. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Update: I've identified the transmission order codes but am not sure what they mean as far as swapability:
2001 F150, Trans code 44U
2005 F150, Trans code 44B, 44A
