Default 2010 f150 6R80 transmission help!

I’ve got a rattling/grinding noise coming from the transmission around 45mph. The transmission shop did a scan on it and it showed the torque converter clutches were slipping. The transmission seems to work and shift fine. It has 165k miles on it. I’m wonder if I changed the torque converter, would it fix the issue. Rather than replace the whole transmission. It is a 4wd. 2010 F150 Lariat Crewcab. 5.4lt. Thanks.

Default

@ 165,000 miles with a grinding noise........
If i had it pulled to put a converter in it, i would rebuild it while it was out.
But that's just me.......

And if you pull it, drop the pan, and look for metal or shiny particles in the fluid and the pan...... and if its all good and clean then i would feel better about just a converter.

Default Transmission torque converter

Exactly what I was thinking. I would drop the pan, replace the filter but it could cause much worse slipping or cause the converter clutches to come apart and really make a mess.
