To my knowledge piston slap is when there is too much play between the piston and the cylinder wall giving the cylinder too much side to side movement.

I had to replace the pass side exhaust manifold at 35K miles. They replaced it under warranty and the mechanic told me he does a lot of them. Seems over time, the manifold will warp out of shape creating the leak and noise. I hope mine will not do it again, because I'll have to pay for the repair.
