Help Needed ! Replacing 4.6 romeo motor in my 98 f150 4wd!
Good morning all. I have a 98 Ford f150 4wd with the 4.6 romeo v8. It is on its last legs, (oil consumption, lack of power) so I have decided to do an engine swap. I have located a 4.6 romeo v8 from a reputable auto wrecker , and it is from a 97 f 150 4wd, which under the hood to me looks identical, same vin code and layout. What I need is help with any and all pics and advice as to how to take out and reinstall with the least amount of grief. I watched them take it out at the wrecking yard , and it did not look fun at all, but that is a wrecking yard , not a mechanic shop. The truck I have is a good truck , but a new 4.6 is $3800 CDN, and thats too much for a farm truck.
Any help with any pics , tips, etc, is very appreciated. Thanks !

You should begin by cleaning the engine, engine bay of you truck and also the engine you will be installing.
As you remove the existing engine, take pictures frequently as you make the disassembly. Keep the pictures in order as you should use them in reverse order when you begin the reassembly.
Having a good space in which you can stage the removed parts and pieces is also very helpful. Stage them in specific order. If you need to clean or repair these, place them back in the proper place.
A big job but by being organized makes it much easier.

Good Luck and enjoy the process.
