Default how many miles on your 4.9?

i am new here and looking to trade my truck for a 1990 f150 with a 300 in it. it looks like a real nice truck the only problem is it has 208000 miles. thats why im concerned. how many miles are these engines good for??? any help is apprecited!!!

If its been taken care of and you can baby it and care for it it'll last 400,000. My 5.8 has 195,000 and I hit 4000 RPM daily. They're bullet proof motors. If its in good shape and for the right price, buy it

thanks wondertwin. i know its a jam up motor just wasnt sure for how long. and the price is right because im just trading my suv. i just want a truck. he says it was a work truck but hes been fixing it up slowly. hes says he just put a fresh tune up on it and oil change and he didnt say when but he said tranny is rebuilt

223k and counting. Just bought mine 3 weeks ago. Changed all the fluids and it still runs well and doesn't burn oil. For the price I paid I will probably just drive it until it dies.

One company I worked for had three F150s with 300s. These were not lightly driven. These were service trucks that were abused. When I left, all three had over 300K and were running perfectly. I know they consumed some oil but started and ran fine. Now, the transmissions were a different story.....

mine has 210k and didnt use any oil,wasnt taken very good care of before us and i beat it a bit aswell, it needs a head gasket now but it will run again

Thanks for the help guys. I didn't end up getting the truck but I did get a 87 bronco. Its in good shape inside and out. The motor was supposably rebuilt 600 miles ago its a 302. I like it so far jus gotta get it figured all out

I bought mine with 180k and now have 233k. All major mechanicals are original and truck is my DD.

My 4.9 has 260,000 and is still running (1988). Previous owner did some "work" on it so I am in the process of trying to figure out some stuff under the hood-gas mileage is crap. Never seen a smog pump before and the Haynes manual and vacuum diagram under the hood are not a lot of help....
