Adding a limited slip to my 3.31 open?

on a 2016 f150 2wd 2.7ecoboost
gonnah keep the gears. 90% of my driving is on the interstate. but the open diff is not gonnah work. not on this light ass truck with its aluminum bed. not living in the mountains where i almost get stuck making a downhill u-turn.
im looking at lsd options and have decided to go with auburn hp for 8.8 31 spline

1. will this fit?
2. have there been any detailed install writeups? (searched for over an hour)
3. should i go with the positrac oem lsd? its 200$ less

im hoping i can do this. i installed new shocks/springs/shackles/intake on this truck already.

Been looking into this too. For for track use but daily improvement too.

ive discovered there is NO aftermarket lsd for our rear end. its not the same 8.8 in other fords. im sure something will come out eventually

after the rear sway bar install and adding a camper shell to the back i now have more weight and traction then before

I recall someone on the other forum running into the same issue, finding out its not the same as the mustang 8.8

There is the factory e-locker which I thought was made by eaton. Have you checked that out?

I've heard of at least one place that has done the swap from Mustang to F150 but no more details besides its been done. No word on how easy and what extra parts.

did you ever find a LSD option? i'm trying to hunt down something for my 3.15 2WD...

It's not a completely open diff, has somewhat of a limited slip with the traction control cause when I do brake stands both my wheels spin n not jus one lol

Ford beefed up the pinion on the newer 8.8's, but I didn't think they changed the carrier bearings or axles. If I were you I would start comparing part numbers on the bearings between the older & newer 8.8's.If the carrier bearings have the same ID, and the axles are 31 spline, there's no reason you couldn't drop a TruTrac in there.

its a 34 spline completely different from the standard 8.8

Interesting - they did beef it up.

I wonder how long for the aftermarket to catch up.
