4.9L W/ Manual Transmission and Transfer Case
 

I have a 1998 F-150 2x4 with a manual 5 speed transmission (M5R2) . The engine is plenty strong enough to pull my 23' boat out of the water but the manual 5 speed is just geared too high. I am trying to find out if there is a manual transmission and transfer case that will mount to my 4.9L. If I had a transfer case with low range gear I know there would be no problem. And since its not a 4x I would just let the front facing shaft freewheel. I am not even sure if the 4.9 was ever put in a 4x F-150.

What is the rear differential gear ratio?
you might just look at lowering it , probably cheaper too.
