Post 3G upgrade on 89 f150 4.9

I am going to do the 3G alternator upgrade, because my third alternator just did a meltdown. Both plugs, and the green wire over near the relay burned in half. I thought the fusible link at the end of that green wire was supposed to prevent that. By the time I got home, the truck was about ready to catch fire, I believe. It really stunk for hours. That's history now.

I know that with this truck, if I want a 130 amp alternator, I can use a unit with the bolts at 6:00 and 12:00, and 8.25in. apart.and the new wiring. The burned alternator has bolts at 6:00 and 2:00, and they're 7in. apart. RSM Injec.com has a 95amp, 3G, with the correct bolt pattern of 6:00 and 2:00, which I can bolt right in, along with changing the wires. If I do the 130amp, I believe I'll have to grind the bracket some.

Would this 95 amp alternator be powerful enough for a truck with power doors, locks, a/c, cruise, and standard radio? They claim it puts out 80amps at idle, and 120 amps at max output. I don't plan on adding anything extra to the truck, so maybe this would be adequate? The standard 2G alternators are totally inadequate, but a big part is those two plastic connectors on them.

yes it is powserful enough. remember, the older trucks with power everyting had to make due with just a 60 amp or less alternator.

Look into an aftermarket one wire alternator also. Some of the companies out there offer 130 or higher output at just 2000 rpms. I saw one that was 450 amps at 4000 rpm... that was for an ambulance. it had 5 power lugs on it.. talk about POWER!!!!!!!!! said it took 76 hp to run that alternator at full load........ My old truck would power everything, then fall over from engine failure.
