Question on the 2.7 oil change. I've watched videos and read up on the oil drain to pan being at least 15 minutes. My question is about the oil pan plug. My 2016 is yellow like the ones in the youtube videos but it has wings on it from the center area. Is this now a hand release with only the ear tabs holding it in place? Can someone confirm how to remove or if it takes a special tool?
I just put on over 1000 miles and was wanting to remove the factory fill. Being unfamiliar with the plug caused me to stop and search again but no luck so I put the shield back on and will wait.

As a veteran of many internet forums on various topics over the years I'm trying to avoid getting the dreaded "use search" or "go to that forum" response. Seems like it would make a lot of sense to have a section geared solely towards the 2.7 though I do realize there is a lot of overlap with the 3.5 on things like intakes, exhaust, tuners, etc.

Does anyone have experience with the 2.7 with 3.15 axle?

Default Any advice

I'm new here and just looking for some advice. I bought a new 2016 f150 XLT 2.7 ecoboost 45 days ago. I drove the truck for two and a half weeks. The truck start blowing blue smoke out of the exhaust and it is having the cyclinder heads replaced. I have now been out of the truck for two and half weeks. The truck only had 1800 miles on it! I have been waiting on a water pump gasket that is on back order. I work for the dealership and i feel like i am being treated worse than a customer. Is there any computation I should go after through for. I have heard about the buy back program, I just don't know anything about it. Any advice is welcome.

Thank you.

I probably am the only one to say this but I think the 2.7L EB sounds nice. Yes it's not a V8 Coyote but coming from a V6 4Runner, this engine sounds nicer as well as the exhaust has a deeper louder sound. I was quite surprised.

My first choice on a new truck would be the 2.7. However, with the HDPP I plan to get next, only option will be the 3.5TT.

2.7L has an electric water pump. How you doing now ? I just moved my license plate down to the valence and removed the mounting to open up the CAC. It gets better gas mileage this way.

I have it with the 3.31 but a lot of the trucks on the lot had the 3.15
