I traded an old 5.0L V8 F150 for a 2016 supercab 2.7 Ecoboost. The old one got 12.5 mpg commuting in the North Georgia hills, and struggled under load. The new one gets about 21.5 mpg and is much more powerful. It's also very fast and quick, which helps considerably on the 55 mph to 70 mph freeway. In the first week, my wife and I bought a bed full of mulch (bagged) which I estimate weighed about 1,000 lbs. We deliberately took the back roads -- very steep up and down -- and saw zero loss of power, zero sagging of the bed, zero effect on maneuverability, and zero loss of mpg. It's the Little Engine that Could.

 

I'm assuming yours is 4X4 with 3.55 gears, I haven't tried Premium yet, significant more $ with 36 gal tank.

No, it's a 4x2 with 3.31 gears, I believe.

 

Well in theory you should be able to get 26 mpg's on the HWY. I raised my tire PSI to a couple under max on the tire. Plus I put clear LEXAN over FOG Lights so far.

Last week I was on a vacation for a week up to NY and put around 3K mi. on it. I averaged a good 24+ mpg actual gas pump. My Fuelly average is 23.3 mpg with some city driving with 8.600 mi. My last tank I went 854.5 miles/ 24.3 mpg.

 

Today I removed my Trailer Towing Mirrors and put on Standard Mirrors, it was easy and took 15 minutes to do. We will see if this helps my MPG's.

Any one changed the plugs yet. Looked at mine and its looking like I may have to disconnect the water heater hose just to get at the back one, Also the wiring harness isnt going to be fun either to get out of the way

Hmm that doesn't sound like an easy job. I saw a vid of the 3.5 spark plug change and that one looked pretty easy.

I'd be interested in the 2.7 procedure as well. I plan doing my own eventually when it reaches 50k.
