Got a problem shifting into 1st gear from a standing start,more so after driving for a few miles i have to sometimes turn the motor off and slip it into gear that way ,the clutch does not appear to be slipping ,i just recently replaced the starter motor ,and a few times when i had to do the above ( shutoff the motor slip in to gear ) all i got was a click almost like a dead battery ,i have had the battery checked ,and it is fine ,i only have ,
approx 160,000 km on my truck ,mostly city driving ,and a little 4x4 during
hunting season, 1996 f150 4x4 6 cyd 4.9 160,000
p s it has been hard to shift into first for years ,but now its getting a little more serious any help would be greatly appreciated

Mine did that when I bought it (had 145,500 miles). It worked for me if I would shift into 2nd and then 1st.

But then I had to put in a new tranny at 147,500 when the forks on the bottom of the shifter broke inside the tranny.
