Wheels/Tires Fitment
 
Looking around for a wheel/tire setup for my 2017.

Will 295/45/18's fit on a 2/4 dropped 2wd? Wheels will be 18x10 -12 5in backspace I believe.

I haven't had any luck searching around on here or on the interwebs in general.

Those will stick out close to 1.5"
Not a good idea with a drop...it'll rub like crazy.
You're looking for backspace in the +30-35 range.

hmm. What if I ran a 18x9 in the front instead? Wheel is listed with a +20 offset and 5.75in backspace

I run a +38 offset (KMC slides). I believe they are 8.5 inches wide with 275/55/20's. I don't think a tire any wider would fit without rubbing, unless perhaps I did something with the fender lip, like having it rolled up or something.

Even at +20 offset I think you may have issues. There are tire and wheel offset calculators on line you can fool around with to get an idea. They might not tell you everything you need to know but it might help. You may have to buy one wheel and have it test fitted to find out for sure. You can probably return the wheel if the shop knows up front what you're trying to do. They may not take back a new tire however after it's been mounted.

I will load some in a few minutes. But here's a short answer:

I'm going to call the drop a 5/6, but I never really measured it as I just kept lowering and adjusting it until I liked the way it looked.

with the kmc slides 8.5 inch wide rim at +38 offset, the sidewalls of the rear tires (275/55/20's) are exactly 1/2 inch inside the outer edge of the rear fender. I put a level vertically and came up with an exact measurement.

the difference between a +20 offset and a +38 is .7 inches. That would put the sidewall on the narrower 275's that I'm running outside of the fender. Obviously then if you're running a tire with less offset and a wider tire, you'll have major issues, if you go low enough.

Hmm I see. Yeah I plan on only going 2 inches down in the front. I may run a narrower tire in the front rather than the 295's and hope it's good enough.

A +20 wheel is going to be almost undrivable on a lowered truck.
You won't be able to turn your wheel all the way without bigtime stuffing the tire into the crash bars or fender liners...you need to find a wheel with the right offset.

here ya go, maybe it will help. I don't know why the last picture came out sideways, but it should give you an idea that there really isn't any room left beyond what i'm currently running, imho.

btw, I had f150 platinum wheels before these, and they were I believe a +42 offset. These would rub on the control arms and fender liners near the frame rails. The 38's stopped the rubbing, even though there's only about 1/4 inch difference in the offset. the front of my truck is lowered with calmax control arms with stock struts and shortened stock springs. this required removing the fender liners because of how much they rubbed and installing flashing in various places for splash guards to keep all the junk from getting up under the hood.
