Troy’s 2015 2wd crew Frankenstein drop
So I Frankensteined a kit to do the drop. The front was fairly easy, the Belltech struts so I have some adjustability. The rear was another story. I didn’t like the Belltech flip kit due to the new front leaf hangers. I wanted to do the Crown 4” flip because of the add-a-leaf they use (I tow my boat durning the summer and I didn’t like how soft the factory leaf’s were and I didn’t want to mess with air) but I couldn’t get a hold of them and they wouldn’t return my calls or emails. So If I can’t get any customer service to purchase the parts, how was I going to get a hold of them if I had an issue. So I decided to go with the DJM 6” flip, but I didn’t want to go 6” lower so I also bought the Tuff Country Add-a-leaf’s, which was suppose to add 1.5-2” raise. That combo, by numbers should of netted a 4-4.5’ drop. It did not! With the initial install of the full DJM kit (axle cradles and shackles) and the add-a-leafs (which was a total pain in the rear with the DJM shackles), the drop was almost 3”. That was not enough. So I take everything apart and put the factory shackles back in and I get 3.5” drop. So I guess the add-a-leaf’s added about 3” of lift instead of the 2” like they claimed. Before I put the drop on I went and purchased a set of the Monroe coil over shocks (58642) from another member, again because I tow i didn’t want the rear to sag. Well I put the Monroes on and back up to a 2.5” drop, again that wasn’t low enough, off they come (and are for sale). Next I go and get the Monroes (58633) that are 2” shorter than the 58642 and put them on and they raise the truck .75”. Not enough drop. So off they come and I return them. Then I go and get the Fox shocks (985-24-004) and all is good.
As it sits 2 3/8” drop in the front and 3 1/2” drop in the rear. The truck does ride a bit rougher/stiffer but also feels more planted.
Now to the pictures.

Starting
Start of the flip
Drivers leaf taken apart to do the add-a-leaf
Had to loosen and move the exhaust to get the forward bolt out of the passenger leaf hanger
Passenger leaf gone
Drivers side shock bolt hit the u-bolt plate because of the add a leaf.
Trimmed the u-bolt plate for shock bolt clearance
Drivers side strut installed

I’ll have to get back to you on that. Wheels were like $2600 and I have a total of $1200 in lowering and alignment, maybe. It’s all wrote down at the house. My alignment, the only thing I couldn’t do myself, was like $400. They said they needed camber bolts? And now I am sitting at the alignment shop again for the third time because it keeps coming out of alignment.

lowering = $846
alignment = $400 (stupid camber bolts I don’t think I needed, I’m going to a different shop and have them align it again.)

I had the other shop align my truck again, another $250 but all of the specs are in. The first shop said they couldn’t get caster into spec. I had the first shop do it 3 times and the truck still had too much camber and the caster was out. The second shop did an awesome job and now I don’t have any camber and caster is in spec also. So happy I had it redone, kicking myself for not going the “correct” shop to start with. The second shop was even right around the corner from my house. Oh well. Live and learn. So “interview” the alignment shop before you let them touch your truck.
