Default Rear suspension re-work

Hopefully this works. lol
Right now I have the McGaughys 4” flip kit that dropped mine 4.5” so I fabbed a 1/2” block to make it 5”. There’s also a Hellwig bar and Fox 2.0’s.

I’m pulling the McGaughys front spring eye drop bracket, removing the 1/2” block and adding Crown lift shackles and 6° shims. The reason is I need the front of the leaf pack raised to fit my Stifflers traction bars. If the shims get it even close the bars locking in the pinion angle should keep any vibrations at bay. Also replacing the Fox shocks with double adjustable Viking D220’s.
I’ll report back on Thursday whether this works or is a total failure. lol
All of this is just to get traction bars on it...axle wrap would be nuts when the Whipple goes on next weekend.

Just out of curiousity I’ve always wondered why you didn’t get a 4WD if you knew you were going to Whipple this build. You might have lost an inch lowering it but putting the power to the ground would have been easier.

I’m a glutton for punishment I guess. lol
My twin turbo Cummins powered F250 made about 1000hp at the tires and was also a lowered 2wd. I figure if I could drive that thing into the 11’s I can manage this thing...I’m only tuning for about 600 at the tires.

The Stiffler bars you got. Are they the "2009-2014" on their site? I figured they would mount up fine to the 15+ trucks but havent seen anyone do it.

Howd they work out?!?!?!?!

Swapped everything around and the 09-14 bars kinda dropped right in. The axle brackets were a straight bolt on but I had to move the frame bracket forward about 1.5”, drilled 3 holes and then fought the nut plates for an hour on each side. I wound up welding a piece of rod to them so I could fish them down inside the frame. After that the bars themselves fell right into place. They were a bit long...that’s why I moved the frame bracket forward.
My only issue now is whit how it sits. It’s dead level front to back but to me it looks low visually. That 6* shim I put in is fatter than hell...probably dropped it another 1/2”. I’m gonna blow it apart tomorrow, remove the shim and build the pinion angle into the axle saddle. I think it’ll be ok then. FWIW the Viking shocks are awesome.
I’ll throw up some pics tomorrow after I reset the height and get the new brakes on.

Glad to know they worked out for you. Gives me confidence to purchase them myself.

Also, Killer build man, I just logged back onto the forum since the longest time and came across some of your threads. Thumbs up. Keep it up.

Blew it back apart this morning, removed the shims and built the pinion angle into the axle saddle. I also cut the part where the axle sits in the saddle down about 3/8” more for even more lift. It came out right where it used to. I also put on new brakes but that turned into its own fiasco...I posted about that in my build thread.
FWIW the Viking shocks are awesome.

Hopefully your crown shackles aren't as annoying as mine were. Whoever put the sleeve in the bushings put them in dry, and the constantly squeaked. Drove me insane when I still had them on.

I pressed out the sleeve and bushing and coated everything with lithium grease before I put them in. The upper bolt head was way too close to the frame for my liking though...it made contact with the axle at full droop so I shaved the heads down to make some room.
